DARCY
My first morning at the house and I woke up to a blood curdling scream. It was my mothers. I instantly threw back my warm white comforter and ran down the elegant steps, my bare feet slapping the wood.
"Mom?!" I yelled, as I entered the kitchen. I stopped when I saw the Down syndrome girl in front of me. My green/gold eyes widened and my pink lips lightly parted. I looked over to my mom who was slightly panting.
"You startled me." My mom breathed out talking to the little girl beside me. I looked back down at her and titled my head to the left.
"What's your name?" I said barely squatting to get to her height. I'm only 5'2 she looked like a solid 4'11.
"I'm Adelaide." She giggled, giving me a big smile. I smiled at her, she looked so happy and at peace.
"I'm Darcy." I replied giving her a smirk. She scanned me up and down, finally meeting my eyes again.
"You're a pretty girl." She stated loudly. I chuckled at her little outburst and shook my head.
"You're beautiful Adelaide." And with that she ran out of the house. My mom cleared her throat to get my attention, it worked. She smiled at me, her dark green eyes glimmering with something I hadn't seen in a long time.
"I'm going to work now honey." She sighed, pouring the rest of her steaming coffee down the drain. I watched it as the black liquid flowed out of the cup then brought my eyes to my arms and back to her. I lightly padded over and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Love you." I whispered in her ear. She just smiled and walked out, taking her purse in keys with her. I turned around on my heel as soon as I heard her lock the front door. Right as I was turned away I ran into someone causing me to scream and fall down. I felt two strong arms grab me by the waist so I didn't fall and the hard tile. It was Tate. I felt my heart beat grow fast as he pulled me up to him, I took in his minty smell and couldn't help but blush.
"Do you just waltz into people's homes like its no big deal?" I asked lightly laughing. He gave me a dimpled smile and shook his head making gold curly locks of hair fall in front of his captivating eyes.
"Just this one." He whispered leaving me confused as he walked up the stairs heading to my room. I brushed off his weird comment and slowly followed him, curious of what today would bring us. I walked in my medium sized room and saw Tate cheekily smiling at me, rocking on his heels. I raised an eyebrow at him, my eyes wandering the dark room to find out what he was smiling at. I turned my attention back to him and shrugged my shoulders.
"What?" I asked confused, eager to find the source of his amusement.
"I picked out your outfit for today!" He let out a small chuckle, pointing to the clothes that lied on my messy bed. It was a white crop top and a skater skirt with a simple design. I shook my head laughing at how childish he was being.
"And what shoes shall I wear?" I asked in a posh tone. He went straight to my closet and pulled out knee high white socks and brown boots. He raised his eyebrows as if he were saying "How good am I?!" I giggled and grabbed the clothes, making my way to my bathroom. After I was changed and had put on my makeup that I found out on a YouTube video and stared in the mirror. I started to point out all of my flaws for some reason. I always did this as if I were going to accomplish something by putting myself down. I glanced over at the black bag on the edge of the sink and shook my head, walking out while I still had a choice. I found Tate on my bed fiddling with his thumbs.
"So what are we doing today?" I asked flashing him a smirk.
