"You know, the faster you get out the car, the faster we'll be able to go in there and then leave," Jace said for the millionth time.
"I guess we just have to stay here all evening then," I shrugged looking out the window at the house in front of us. It was a beige painted two story home with a two car garage. The grass was green and well kept and there were pink and yellow flowers planted along the pathway to the door. It didn't look like a torture chamber at all, but I still wasn't going in.
"Oh, that's fine with me," he said with a smile whilst leaning back in his seat, "I mean, if you wanted to spend some time alone with me, all you had to do was ask."
I scrunched up my nose in disgust, "In your dreams, Jones."
"Oh, we're on a last name basis now?" he wiggled his eyebrows at me, "and to think you were just yelling at me earlier today. I always knew you would come around, sweetheart."
I unbuckled my seat belt and made sure to slam the door as I exited the car. His door opened and I could hear him laughing.
"You're so damn annoying," I mumbled as I crossed my arms across my chest and leaned my back against the car.
He chuckled. "Come on," he said gesturing for me to follow him.
I contemplated whether or not I should go. I was going to continue complaining, but as much as I hated to admit it, he was right. The faster we go in, the faster we can leave. So with an exasperated sigh, I went over to him and we walked to the front door with me trailing behind.
Without even knocking, he opened the door and held it open for me.
"We're in here, Jones!" Someone yelled from an unknown direction. 'Here goes nothing', I thought as I followed behind. I knew we were getting closer because the voices got louder. There was also music playing, though not very loudly.
"Dude, what took you so lo-" said a familiar voice when Jace rounded the corner, but they stopped when they saw me, "well, hello there."
"Hi," I said to Seth with a neutral expression. Everyone else looked up from what they were doing, surprise evident on all their faces. Though I didn't know all their names, I recognized them as the jocks that usually sat at the lunch table.
"Oh yeah, I hope you guys don't mind, but I brought a guest," Jace said from beside me. 'More like you kidnapped me,' I thought.
"Oh, not at all," Seth said smiling towards me, "the more the merrier."
The guy beside him, who had short curly hair and light green eyes, scoffed, "you're only saying that because you hope you finally have someone you can beat, Rogers."
Seth punched him playfully. "Let's get something straight, you only beat me because you cheat. I, on the other hand, am all about playing fair."
Everyone else, including Jace, looked at each other and then unanimously started laughing. "If that's what helps you sleep at night," Jace said as he sobered up.
During this whole ordeal, I just stood there, taking in my surroundings, feeling completely out of place. The outside beauty of the house definitely matched the inside. The living room and dining room decor looked like it was straight out of a catalog. Unlike my house, this one felt like a home. It felt lived in.
Jace glances over at me with a small smile, "Oh, where are my manners," he turns back to the group, "This is Seth, who you already know. Jordan, Ja..."
I cut him off before he could continue, "I know who they are."
He turned to me with a smirk, "Then what are their names?" he challenged.
