2 years before

I clutched tight to my sisters hand, my knuckles white. Fear lay thick in the air. Faster, we must go faster. I picked up the pace, half dragging her along. I was built for speed, my legs begging to glide swifter across the ground. But my sister was not.
Her breath came out in gasps, her tiny legs struggling to match my fear driven pace. My head whipped around as I heard a snap behind me. I slowed my pace and growled low in warning. Within seconds men surrounded us, blocking our every exit.
Shit.
I stared into my sister's innocent eyes, silently communicating what I intended to do. She gave a slight nod, barely perceptible.
And then all hell broke loose.
I shifted effortlessly, adrenaline coursing through me as I let out my Tiger. My sis leapt onto my back, holding tightly to the fur on my neck. I let out a ferocious growl.
Bring it on.
I charged through the sea of men, dodging arrows as I let my animalistic side take over. I relished the wind on my fur, reveling in the danger and excitement. I ran through the forest, struggled to put as much distance between us and the petty humans as possible. I veered east. Making sure to lead them away from our pack's camp.
I turned my head slightly to see how much distance I had put between us.
I felt an arrow hit my shoulder and hissed in pain. I stumbled as my shoulder protested at the weight, throwing off my sister. She let out a gasp of pain as she hit the forest floor, the sound of snapping bone silencing the now unmoving forest.
I made a move towards her, freezing when a human lifted her up by her hair, holding a gleaming knife to her throat. She whimpered. I raised my hackles, letting the idiot holding my sister know I was pissed.
I started inching slowly forward only to freeze when he held the blade tighter to her neck, a single drop of blood dancing it's way to the forest floor. What do you want? I spoke angrily into his mind.
He struggled to mask his surprise. Only very powerful Skin Walkers could get past a mind block. Especially one as strong as his. A Skin Hunter, I heard my Tiger say. I shuddered at the thought.
"You," he replied with a sneer.
Let her go and we'll talk.
He snorted. "That isn't going to happen." Though he shifted his blade slightly further away from her neck.
What is it going to take to get you to let her go? My Tiger was getting restless, I knew I couldn't hold her back much longer.
He chewed his lip, as if in deep thought.
I felt a slight change in the air, and immediately tensed. I sensed their presence, like an itch in the back of my mind.
Tell your men to back off or I won't hesitate to rip their heads off. Damn the consequences. They would just kill her and take me anyway.
He made a signal with his head and I tuned my ears to here there retreat. When I could no longer sense them I relaxed slightly.
The throbbing in my shoulder increased, I looked down to see a small puddle of blood on the ground, tainting the earth a deep maroon. I was weakening, the Skin Hunter knew it too. At first my plan of action had been to make a deal, but I didn't have the time for that. So instead, letting instinct guide me, I pounced.
