(Okay. Seriously though. How do people write short one-shots?! Like how?! It's so hard to keep mine short. Ugh the struggle.)
Kenshirou was doing his rounds with Genrou Byakuya at his side. They didn't really speak much and only discussed things like work and the inmates. All was good and well and quiet until they reached a certain pair of cells.
"Inu-chan!" A young woman with short black hair clung to the bars of her cell. Her brown eyes were closed at the moment as she beamed at the dog and the supervisor. With a sigh, the supervisor turned to her looking annoyed.
What do you want number 33?" The man crossed his arms at the girl. She opened her eyes and looked at him.
"Any more lovelies for me?" The inu shook his head.
"No, stop asking." The girl pouted and the wolf guard beside the man stood on his hind legs and reached his head toward the bars of the girl's cell. Lin reached down and scratched the wolf right where he loved it while Kenshirou scowled at his guard's behavior.
"Aww, but its been ages. Surely you have someone who's misbehaving. I refuse to believe that you've learned my techniques." In the cell across from her inmate, 634 listened intently. Musashi and Lin got along quite well and they talked a lot but right now he was lost on what they were discussing.
"I said no. If I really need you again you'll know." Lin huffed and slumped again the bars still scratched Byakuya. "Come on Byakuya."
"Yes, sir." The wolf pulled away and walked off leaving the hallway quiet and boring once again. Lin whined and slid until she sat on the floor. Now what? Her only entertainment for the day was gone. Maybe she could catch one of the other guards on their rounds. But who knows how long that would be.
"Hey, Lin." The girl lifted her head at the sound of Musashi's voice and she stood again and looked through her bars. "What the hell were you talking about with Inu-chan." Lin laughed.
"Ah, that's right. You were never around when he did it before." The woman ran a hand through her short hair and ruffled it. "Back home(China), I was a professional dog trainer." This caught Musashi's attention.
"Wasn't Inu-chan one too?" Lin nodded and let her arms hang out of the bars.
"Mmhm. From what I heard though. He worked specifically with police dogs. I worked with all types. Mostly just pets whose behaviors couldn't be fixed by the owners." Lin smiled at the good memories she's had in the past. "They said I was the best in the area. Some even said I was the best in the country. But I've always thought that to be a bit of an exaggeration. They even tried to give me the title 'The Chinese Dog Whisperer' which I refused to take." Lin laughed nervously.
"Hmm. A dog trainer? Then how'd you end up in here." Lin's mood turned sour and she rubbed the back of her neck.
"Ah, well I.. uh.... Killed a few people who were treating their pets poorly." Musashi was silent. "Heh, I've always had a soft spot for animals and when I heard about this organization that abused and sold them. I was furious. I hunted them down and when I found their hub..... I killed them all." Lin covered her face as the anger rose back up. Despite the fact that they were all dead she still hated them for what they did.
"What I saw there was worse than I had even imagined." Her eyes widened as the images from that day came to the surface. "They deserved to die for what they were doing. I regret nothing." The mood suddenly lightens. "After that, I kept breaking out of every prison because of something animal-related. I can't remember all the reasons but they were good I swear." Musashi sweatdropped.
"You're hopeless Lin you know that?" Lin grins despite that he can't see it. He can sense her happiness.
"You know it." Musashi chuckles.
