Olivia POV
Because the performance had ran over break, everybody was heading to period 3, though I was the only one not wasting time to have a discussion. An announcement had been made that the first quarter of our lesson would be spent as though it was break, giving us all a chance to eat something, though we were confined to the classrooms. I, along with the teachers, knew it was this way so the boys could leave, but the other students were too preoccupied with their gossip about how so-and-so from the band was obviously eyeing them up to even consider the possibility.
I knew that each of the boy's had been looking at me at some point, but I wasn't one to brag. Besides, if nobody believed even Evie Roberts, Queen Bee herself, how would they believe me? And, I didn't really have anybody I could brag to, even if I wanted to. My next lesson, Art, was nearly empty when I arrived, as most kids were taking full advantage of the 5 minute switch over period to talk to the friends not in their classes. And I didn't mind that, it gave me time to have some peace from the teasing and bullying of my 'peers'.
When everybody was in the room and seated, the teacher reminded us that we had 15 minutes to ourselves to eat and relax as though it was break. It may have seemed like a nice gesture, but really, Mr Hayward didn't want to risk getting sued for kids that were dehydrated or hungry after a performance, resulting in them passing out. Over dramatic, yes, but what does that matter to any of us. Time spent away from working was worth it in the eyes of a teenager.
I pulled the phone Niall had gifted to me out of the box, admiring it as it was. I opened the screen, only to find that it was a One Direction logo. How original. I decided to pick a case, as I had half a dozen to choose from. Once I had chosen and added a password, the first and only thing I had done myself so far, I got bored. I didn't need, or want, games, and Niall had already gotten things like Twitter and Instagram for me, so what to do now? I gave in and decided to text the boys. I put them all into one chat so I wouldn't have to send separate texts, being the lazy girl I was.
(Messaging)
Olivia: Hey guys, I'm sorry for interrupting you, but I'm bored! I have to sit alone for 10 mins until class starts. Can you talk?
Niall: Yeah sure, we're just leaving the hall now to get FOOD!
Harry: Niall, calm down, you're starting to act like Louis every time of the day, but you only act over food.
Louis: Hey! I do not act like a child!
Liam: He never said you did...
Zayn: Yup, your words, not his.
Olivia: Hahaha but you DO act like a child Louis, and that's coming from somebody who has only known you for a couple of hours.
Harry: Ohhhh, you got TOLD!!
Liam: Nice one, Liv.
Zayn: That's our girl!!
Louis: I have to admit, that was good. I have been defeated!
Niall: Nice one!!
Olivia: Thx guys, but I have to go now. Time flew by and class is starting. Talk after! x
Ok, so having friends was kinda cool, but why were they so nice to me? They were stars, and could be friends with anybody they wanted, yet they chose to be friends with me, over everybody in the school. It may have started as a coincidence, but I thought we were truly already friends. I mean, they bought me a phone, for crying out loud! I felt spoiled: nobody had given me so much before in a decade, in materials or not. I couldn't be happier, but I knew better than to show it when Ellie and Evie were seated a few rows behind me.
Class started, and I was actually not looking forward to it, to the protection being around a teacher provided. I was looking forward to getting out of here and talking to the boys again. Is this what it is like to have friends? Was it normal to wish a friend to be something more- wait what? Where did that come from? Moving on to drawing a bowl of fruit. Fun...
----------------------
When lunch finally arrived, I couldn't have been happier. I got a text from Zayn just as I left the classroom saying I should meet him at the front of the school. I went through the corridors, thankful that everybody was busy getting to lunch or still gossiping, causing me as little trouble as possible. Obviously, I couldn't avoid Evie and Ellie, but that's only because not even a school concert can draw their attention away from their unhealthy obsession with torturing me.
I walked to the doors, just trying to ignore the insults they were throwing at me as I usually would, but for some reason I felt like crying again. If my life were a storybook or a movie, I'd say I had been emotionless since I was 8, when my mum and step dad's death and all the bullying caught up to me, but when I met Niall, my emotions returned. But, that's unrealistic because I was not important enough to be in a storybook, and definitely not a movie.
But, I didn't cry. I wouldn't give them the pleasure again.
When I got out the doors, I was hit with the heavy smell of a cigarette, which wouldn't have surprised me any other time, but the drug kids were all inside getting high in the toilets at the moment because the weather didn't really look the best. So who was smoking? It turned out to be Zayn, who was wearing sunglasses and leaning very casually against the wall considering he was a super star along with his band mates.
"Hey Zayn!" I walked over to him, watching as he blew out a puff of smoke to greet me with a welcoming smile. He waited for me to reach his side to give me a side hug with the non-smoking arm, continuing to take puffs of the toxic stuff. "You know that can kill you, right?"
"Yeah, but it's not like I do it regularly, only when I'm super stressed, and this time, it's because Niall was stressing. He had a whole fit about asking you to join us for lunch, so I did it for him. But don't tell him I told you about the stressing." He gave me an evil smirk, knowing I wouldn't uncover his mischief and instead assist in causing more havoc in the near future. I smirked back, and watched as he laughed at our silliness, me joining soon after.
Once we were around the corner of the building, closer to the car park, I noticed a dodgy looking black car with heavily tinted windows, something that any other day would have been reported to the police. But I knew, without having to ask, that this was the One Direction car. Probably another reason nobody was outside, I guessed.
With no reason, Zayn grabbed my hand and stood in front of me, his features no longer playful but mockingly posh. He bowed slightly, still holding my hand, and asked in an overly British accent that did not suit him, "Will you join a group of 5 imbeciles for some lunch, m'lady?" I giggled and pulled him up, realizing that there were heads peeking through the windshield of the car and what Zayn was trying to do.
"Why yes, good sir. I would be most honored." I used the same mocking British accent, laughing even as I said it, causing Zayn join to me, until we were laughing so hard we could barely walk straight to the car. We got in and all the boys looked confused, making us laugh harder. I knew that Zayn and I were going to get along best out of all of the boys, I just knew.
When we finally calmed down, Zayn started talking to the lads about this and that, and I joined in occasionally, but I noticed Niall wasn't really acting himself. Well, he wasn't acting as outgoing as he had been a few hours ago. I decided to talk to him, and we had a casual conversation most of the journey between ourselves. He seemed a bit jittery whenever I spoke, and the boys noticed too, but where I was concerned, they threw cheeky glances and smirks at their band mate when they thought neither of us were looking.
What was up with these boys?!
A/N- Sorry that this took so long to get up for you guys. I have been caught up in school, which I have been systematically avoiding, and just have been lacking inspiration. I am going to try and get the next chapter up in the next couple of day, but I like to be several chapters ahead and will have to get some writing done. Writer's block sucks! But I'm back and hopefully I can keep up again. Hope you enjoyed and are doing well my Gemstones!!
