Clip Three - Rayla's POV:

The year is 2052 and everyone is dead. I don't mean this literally, of course. I mean dead as in lifeless. Destroyed from the inside out.

A few years ago something catastrophic happened to our world. The moon disappeared. I wasn't alive when it occurred but I've been told many stories about how it was there one night and simply gone the next. No one knows what happened, but immediately the climate began to change. The ocean ecosystem was completely thrown off balance and the animal population began decreasing dramatically. Governments where thrown into disarray and people began panicking, hoarding supplies and boarding themselves in their houses for months on end. Our planets orbit began to slowly creep closer to the sun, causing our weather to change and mutate into strange storms and droughts. 

And just when people thought it couldn't possibly get any worst, the monsters came. The citizens in Central call them the Mendeni, or The Terrifying Ones. No one has ever seen one and lived to tell about it, but there are many wild theories in circulation. You can hear their insane screams at night, and it haunts many young children, but all the the citizens know that we are safe inside the Wall. The Collective Alliance of Peace (or CAP) are the ones that saved us when the Mendeni began to take over the world, despite many different governmental efforts to contain them. As country after country fell to the Mendeni, CAP took in as many citizens as possible, sheltering them in Central, the last standing city on earth, and the last shelter for humanity. 

CAP is our savior, and we owe them all of our loyalty and affection!!

At least that's what CAP tells us. But I see right through all their shit. See, the thing about CAP is that they keep the population of Central under control by distributing VR headsets 'for free' to every citizen. But the headsets come with a price worse then any sum of money. A group of elite scientists work 24/7 to churn out newer and better headsets that are more and more lifelike. A growing number of people are finding it harder to escape every day, and CAP is altering society to force you to use the headset for at least 50% of your interactions daily. People prefer the made-up reality to the one that we live in, and for some reason CAP wants to keep it that way, I just don't know why.

I do know that something isn't right though. People are constantly disappearing with no explanation, getting carted off in the middle of the night. CAP is up to no good, that much is clear.

I've heard of an underground rebellion that's trying to slowly unseat CAP, but it supposedly isn't gaining much headway. I've put all of my energy and time into finding it for the last few months, but there have been no results. 

I just wish I knew what the hell is going on in my city.
