Song: Zombie- Bad Wolves

When Iladriel returns, Torin and I are sitting at the table again talking lightly as if nothing happened. Sadly, the evidence is still obvious, as the shallow cuts and bruises are on our faces and forearms. She takes one long disappointed look at us with her arms crossed over her chest before sighing and walking over to the table. As soon as she's within arm's reach, she swiftly smacks the backs of our heads.

"Hey! I didn't kill him, did I?" Torin whines.

"Same for me." I cut in.

"Well if you two idiots forgot, you currently have Miss after your head, I'm an accomplice since I lied to her face and harbored a fugitive, and Torin is in the same boat now. I think it's safe to say that we have more important things to deal with right now."

"Yeah, yeah we know. We talked it out and he's allowed to stay, under some guidelines." I track Torin as he gets to his feet, the coins finally leaving his fingers as he puts them on the table top. "When was the last time you ate, Ila?"

Iladriel avoids his gaze immediately and mumbles out a response behind her hand.

He sighs and shakes his head as he starts to dig through cabinets. "Lunch it is, then."

"You have to feed Obi too." She retorts.

"Any allergies?" He asks with a huff and I shake my head. "Good. Whatever I fix, eat it or starve. I don't care."

Torin is a better cook than I thought, once I waited for Iladriel to eat first. I knew he wouldn't potentially poison her, but I wanted to be sure. As I eat, I wonder what Mitsuhide is doing. The tunnel is definitely closed off and heavily guarded now but the far end didn't know of anything until some point after Mitsuhide had gone through and I escaped. He won't be able to get back in and I can't help but to consider that a good thing. Mitsuhide is a skilled fighter, sure, but with his upbringing he is no match for what is needed to survive out here. The less liability I have to deal with, the better. That's why Torin and I came to a proper agreement.

"When nightfall hits, Obi and I are going out for a little while to survey the chatter in The Market."

"Wha' bou me?" Iladriel asks around a rather large bite of a roll.

"You will stay here."

"What!? No, I'm not. I'm going too."

"It's too dangerous. While Harlowe is on a war path you don't need to be a possible target." I cut in. "Torin and I talked all of this over. He is going to let me stay and help me escape, but you can no longer be a part of it. There can be no risk of injury or other risk to your safety because of me, his orders."

"I was the one that brought him here!" She snaps, slamming her hands on the table as she gets to her feet. "I lied to Miss's face about it while he hid in my room and it was fine. I'm helping whether you like it or not."

"Iladriel, Obi and I both don't want to see anything happen to you. If Miss Harlowe even has a slight feeling that you may have betrayed her she will run you through. I'm not going to let you risk death over some castle lackey's life."

"He's not a castle lackey, he's an assassin or a thief, maybe both. I can tell by looking at him." She argues. Technically neither of them are wrong.

"He is all three." Torin says as his bright blue eyes meet mine. "He has the fluidity and silence of an assassin. His eyes are drawn to shiny things much like a thief." I tear my gaze from the coin he started to spin on the table. "But what no one else seems to have noticed yet, is that peculiar rectangular shape that occasionally shows behind his shirt. It's the right size and shape to be a castle identifier tag for Wistal Castle, isn't it Obi?"

Torin and I move through The Death Market after nightfall, clinging to shadows and awnings to hide ourselves. There is definitely talk of what had occurred between Harlowe and myself and her order to bring me to her alive and to kill anyone who helps me. At least I know that I don't have to worry about dying yet, but Iladriel is in the crossfire... Torin too technically, but who cares? I just need to get the sword out of Iladriel's room and get off this island without dying. Then I have to find Mitsuhide and we can finally go home.

"Obi!" I turn toward the source of the harsh whisper and find Torin staring off behind me.

I follow his gaze to find the crowds parting two rows away. Harlowe comes into view a few seconds later, her mouth drawn into a thin line. Her steps falter for less than a second and I shrink further into the shadow as her eyes flick over in our direction. She lingers for a second but continues on.

"Man you screwed up big time. It takes a lot to make Miss Harlowe that angry." Torin snickers and I scowl in response.

"Can you be any actual help at all or are you completely useless?"

"I hope Miss Harlowe gets you and Iladriel can get some new shoes out of it."

"Well if Harlowe kills you, Iladriel can get a whole house out of it. If you care about the kid so much why do you let her live in a hole in the ground by herself in the middle of one of the most dangerous places in the world?"

"Because the one time I tried to get her to come stay with me she kicked my ass."
