He carries me on his shoulders as we make our way to the play park. No one's here as it's getting dark. Dad is taking me to the park since he has to go back to work tomorrow. Even though it's late, he insisted we go to the park, and I didn't disagree. "Daddy, do you think the ghosts are out yet?" I ask. He hums "What ghosts?". I shrug as he lifts me off his shoulders to put me on the ground. "The park ghosts. They come out at night to play in the park" I reply before sitting on a swing. He smiles "Really? I don't think I've heard of park ghosts before". I shrug "Not many have. They are quite shy around humans". He kneels down in front of me "How do you know of them then?". I giggle "Because I've met them before, silly. They are nice ghosts, like Casper". He smiles "Of course. How silly of me".  "So, you've met them. Do you think I could meet them?" He asks. "I don't know. They don't trust many people" I reply. He chuckles "Well, I think I'm pretty trust worthy. Don't you?". I nod "Okay, you can meet them. Come on". I jump off the swing, then take his hand. I lead him over to the middle of the park where the ghosts will see us. I sigh "Okay, to get them to come out, you have to dance". He looks at me "I have to dance?". I nod "They like it when people dance. Just copy me". He smiles "Okay, show me what to do".

"First, you spin in a circle" I start, then spin myself around. He nods "Okay". Then he copies me. I smile "Then, you stretch your arms out to the sides". I demonstrate, and he follows "Alright, now what?". "Now, you stand with your legs apart, like a star" I do that and he looks at me "Are you sure?". I nod, grinning at him. He sighs before copying me. "Then, take a step forward and spin around in to the same position" I tell him and he obliges. He smiles "That it?". I nod "That's it. Now, dance for the ghosts". He chuckles "Alright, come on. You do it with me". I smile "Okay".

For the next few minutes, we dance for the ghosts. He chuckles "Are they impressed yet?". I shake my head "No, but they are looking. Keep dancing!". He smiles before spinning around again. I laugh "Daddy, they don't like it". He pauses "They don't like it? What do they want from me?". I giggle "They want you to sing at the same time". He squints his eyes at me "You're kidding". I shake my head "I'm not! Daddy, they are losing interest". He sighs "Tough crowd. What do they want me to sing?". I shrug "Anything, as long as you are dancing as well". He hums "Okay, I think I have an idea". I sigh "Daddy, they have lost interest". "Well, let's fix that, shall we?" He smiles.

He takes his phone out and soon a familiar song comes on. Rule the World by Take That. He puts his phone on a bench, then walks back over. He winks at me "Let's do this". He starts to dance, then sings along with the lyrics

"You light the skies, up above me
A star, so bright, you blind me, yeah
Don't close your eyes
Don't fade away, don't fade away, oh"

"Yeah, you and me, we can ride on a star
If you stay with me, girl
We can rule the world
Yeah, you and me, we can light up the sky
If you stay by my side
We can rule the world"

He spins around into the star position, then does it again. "Daddy! It's working, keep going" I tell him. He smiles, adding his own moves to the dance. His left hand presses against his chest as he holds an invisible microphone.

"If walls break down, I will comfort you
If angels cry, oh I'll be there for you
You've saved my soul
Don't leave me now, don't leave me now, oh"

"Yeah, you and me, we can ride on a star
If you stay with me, girl
We can rule the world
Yeah, you and me, we can light up the sky
If you stay by my side
We can rule the world"

He spreads his arms out, then spins again. I smile widely "Daddy, they like it". He grins as he continues singing and dancing.

"Oh, all the stars are coming out tonight
They're lighting up the sky tonight
For you, for you
All the stars are coming out tonight
They're lighting up the sky tonight
For you, for you, oh"

"Yeah, you and me, we can ride on a star
If you stay with me, girl
We can rule the world
Yeah, you and me, we can light up the sky
If you stay by my side
We can rule the world"

He points to me, making me giggle. He grins in response, making sure to keep up with the song. The park ghosts are already impressed, but I let him continue. It's more fun that way. "They are starting to trust you" I comment. He claps his hands together, jumping in to the star shape. I grin, watching him.

"All the stars are coming out tonight
They're lighting up the sky tonight
For you, for you
All the stars are coming out tonight
They're lighting up the sky tonight
For you, for you"

"All the stars are coming out tonight
They're lighting up the sky tonight
For you, for you
All the stars are coming out tonight
They're lighting up the sky tonight
For you, for you"

When the song stops, he stops dancing and looks at me, breathing heavily. "Are they impressed yet?" He asks. I nod "They want to meet you". He fist pumps the air "Yes!". I smile "Come on, they're over there". I point at the climbing frame and he follows. "Daddy, these are the ghosts. That's Marco, Polo, Vera, Jupiter and Celeste. Ghosts, this is my dad" I introduce. My dad kneels down beside me "Hi, I'm James. It's very nice to meet you all. How's it going?". I smile "They said they're good. They liked your dancing and singing". He smiles "Well, thank you very much. It was my pleasure". "They like you, but they have to go now" I translate. He tilts his head "Where are they going?". "Back to their home, the ghost palace" I reply. He nods "Oh, of course. Well, it was lovely to meet you guys. Have a safe trip home". "Daddy, they already left". He purses his lips "Yeah, I know". I giggle as he stands up "Come on". "Where are we going?" I ask. He smiles softly "We aren't going anywhere, sweetheart. We can stay as long as you want". "Really?" I question. He nods "Yeah, you can tell me more about these ghost friends of yours". I jump up excitedly "Okay!". I take his hand and we walk over to a tree.

Dad sits with his back against it, allowing me to sit in his lap. He kisses my head softly "I love you so much". "I love you too, daddy" I reply. "So, tell me. Who are these park ghosts?" He starts. I turn on his lap to face him "Okay, Marco and Polo are brothers. They like to cause a lot of mischief, but they are very respective of people. Marco is older and stronger than Polo and sometimes they don't get on very well, but they always make up in the end. Vera and Celeste are sisters, they are princesses of the ghosts. Their job is to make sure humans are safe and that they do their own jobs correctly. They like giving advice. Next time you don't know how to play a character, you should ask them. They are very smart". He chuckles "I'll keep that in mind". "And finally, Jupiter. She is Vera and Celeste's mother. She is the queen of the ghosts. Her job is almost the same as her daughter's, except she is a lot busier. She looks after humans, she makes sure families are safe and happy. She has a lot of jobs. She's the queen, an estate agent, a lawyer, a businesswoman, a financer, an administrator, a doctor, a psychologist, a social worker, a judge and a politician". He raises his eyebrows "Wow, that's a lot of jobs. She must be a busy woman". I nod "She is. You might like her. I think you should go on a date with her". He hums "I think she might be too busy. By the sounds of things". I nod "You're probably right. Oh well". He chuckles as I rest my head on his chest. I feel him sigh before kissing my head again. His arm wraps around me securely, allowing me to snuggle into him. "Oh, and Jupiter's always watching everything" I mumble.

James's POV

I quirk my eyebrow as I glance around. Well, there's an unsettling thought. I nod "Thanks for the heads up". She giggles, making me smile. I run my hand down her arm, I wish she could stay this age forever. The never ending imagination age. "Love you, daddy" She mumbles. I nod, keeping her close to me "Love you too, sweetheart".

She ended up falling asleep, so I pick her up and start to make my way back to the car. I put her in the passenger seat, then jog round to the driver's side. I managed to catch a few soft smiles and "awws" on the way, from couples but I didn't care. I had my daughter, she was safe. That is all that matters to me.
