As he awoke, he heard more voices.
"Is he ready?" The commander said, his deep voice cutting through his in-between conscious state.
"Just about, I need to test his motion, turn on his CNS(central nervous system), then I can turn him over to you, you'll need to inform him on how his powers will work now while he's in this state. "
"Is he awake?" The Commander questioned.
"He's awake," Shadow replied, his eyes opening to see the table he was on was now flat, he could see the exposed robotic joints of his limbs, he shuddered, that will take some getting used to.
A small smile graced his face as Rouge walked in carrying a coffee, "Hey, sorry I'm late."
"You're fine." Chuck encouraged, "we were just about to get started. Ready Shadow?"
Shadow nodded, enough denial, time to face reality. Chuck turned on a few controls on the console. "Try moving your arm." Shadow complied, slowly moving his arm up off of the table. Now feeling the magnetizing force from before disappear.
"Good." A few more buttons, the table moved from its flat position to one of an incline. Chuck stepped forward, "ok, I'm going to turn on your Central Nervous System now, it's not perfect, but you should be able to feel objects and temperature...Just not be able to detect textures or pain. Your internal system should tell you if anything's wrong."
Shadow relaxed, finally! No more of this thick numbness. A small click signaled the change, a flood of sensation hit him, he felt the table behind him, the chilled temperature of the room. But there was something missing, not being able to sense the texture, was throwing him off. But for now, at least he could feel some sensations again. He could also feel the wires still connected to him, probably how Chuck was able to turn his systems back on.
Chuck now moved over to Shadow disconnecting these wires from him. Then he had Shadow turn to reach a panel on his back, he disconnected a couple wires from there before closing the panel. It felt weird to Shadow, the open panel. The feeling that someone was able to open him up, and dig around inside of him, was alarming to say the least. But Chuck was an ally and a relative of Sonic's, he probably had nothing to fear from him, besides he possibly owed the hedgehog his life.
Once Chuck had finished, he motioned for Shadow to step off of the platform that supported his feet, while at this angled position. Shadow slowly got up testing his Limbs, checking their range of motion.
Chuck, after a moment seemed satisfied. "Alright, Commander, he's all yours."
"Thank you Charles, the United Federation is indebted to you. " The Commander dipped his head slightly, in gratitude.
Chuck shrugged it off, "Glad to have helped Commander, please let me know if you need any more help with him."
Shadow could start to see the family resemblance, beyond the physical similarities between Charles and Sonic, both seem to have a heart for helping others.
Chuck turned to Shadow, "That offer goes to you too, Shadow."
Shadow lifted up his hand to shake, "Thank you Chuck, I appreciate all of your help."
Walking turned out to be a challenge, it was one thing to take a few small steps, it was another to form a pattern with them. He realized that it wasn't not unconscious anymore, he had to start a rhythm and program it. As he awkwardly moved around the room, he gained a longer stride, just as he was about to finish a whole loop, he stumbled. Suddenly, he felt someone catch him. He looked to see both Chuck and, to his surprise the Commander as well. "Thanks," he murmured.
