(Maddie's Pov!)

I was 14 years old. That's when everything changed. My life would never be the same after that day.

I walked out into my backyard seeing my little sister staring at the fence. "Abba?" I questioned grabbing her shoulder. "That man is grabbing the fence.." She said pointing at a weird man who looked very strange. He was grabbing the fence and trying to rip it down.

"Mom!" I yelled as she came running out. She grabbed both of us pulling us away from the fence a horrified look on her face.

"Mom..?" I muttered looking up at her face my hands shaking. "Go find your father sweetie.. take your sister!" She said giving me a smile. Her smile comforted me and I grabbed my sisters arm pulling her behind me.

"Dad! There's a man pulling at our fence! Moms in trouble.!" I said as he stood up running outside. My sister and I followed in fear.

"Sarah!" He screamed as the man grasped at her throat biting into her shoulder. She screamed and my dad grabbed her arm and repeatedly punched the man in the face. He didn't stop.. he kept biting into my mothers shoulder making my sister scream and cry. Tears filled my eyes as I screamed at the thing.

"Stop! Stop!" I yelled holding my sister close to me.

My mom finally shoved the creature off of her and fell to the ground. My dad stared down at her as he looked back at the fence. More people began hitting the fence and my dad stared in horror.

"Take the kids.. go.. I'll distract them. You know what this is." My mom spoke as I reached down To grab her hand. My father grabbed my shoulder and pulled me away.

"Mom..!" I shouted as my dad pulled us into the house and slammed the door.

I stared out the glass as our fence was broken down. My mom smiled at me as tears slipped down her face.

The people rushed towards her biting into her. Tears slipped down my face as my dad pulled me away from the door. "We are going to travel. Far away from here." My dad said packing a bag.

"Girls go put your stuff into a bag." My dad said as I walked into my bedroom and took my book bag down from the hook on my door and began packing some clothes and my bow.

My little sister sat on her bed not moving. She cried silently and held her knees close to her chest.

I heard something fall in the kitchen making me jump. I ran into the kitchen seeing a man holding my dad down. He bit into his neck making my dad scream out in pain.

"Dad!" My little sister shouted. The man turned around and slowly began walking towards us. I screamed and grabbed the lamp off the stand and smacked him in the head.

"Zombies.. I can't believe it.." I muttered as I stomped on his head. "Sissy...?" My Sister whispered.

"Get your things." I said grabbing my bag. I put my bag on my back and tied my boots. My sister followed me outside and I began walking towards the only place I thought could have some help.

My grandmothers house was to far to walk there. I went to Mackenzies house. I knew she'd be prepared for this.

"This is Mackenzies house?" Abba asked pointing to the house. "Yes. Be careful we don't know where any zombies are." I said grabbing her hand and walking up the driveway.

We made it to her front door and I was about to knock but I heard a voice. "Maddie? Is that you?" MacKenzie asked coming around from the side of her house. She held her katana and her dad followed her.

He held another katana and his shirt was stained with blood. "What happened to you guys?" Her dad asked making me stare down at the ground tears filling my eyes again.

MacKenzie nodded and looked off into the distance. "We have to go find the rest of the group." She said making me nod.

"Let's go Abba." I said as we all walked down the street.

"MacKenzie Maddie!" Sebastian and Jason yelled running towards us. Sebastian had a fun while Jason only had a metal baseball bat.

"Guys!" I said with a small smile. I was glad they were okay. I was worried..

"We still have to find Jonas, Emily, and Philip." MacKenzie said.

"Let's get moving." MacKenzie's father said. "Yeah. Let's go." MacKenzie spoke as we walked down the road. "Where's your parents?" I asked looking at Sebastian and Jason.

"My mom ran off with my sisters during the news report." Jason said. "My mom... My mom didn't make it out. My dad and I got separated awhile ago so I went to Jason's house." Sebastian said tears filling his eyes.

"It's okay.." I said putting my hand on his shoulder. He gave me a small smile and then looked off towards the road.

"Look! There's em's house." MacKenzie said running towards the house as quickly as she could.

"Wait! Mackenzie!" Her dad yelled running after her. I grabbed Abba's hand and began running after MacKenzie.

When I finally caught up to everyone I seen what made them so horrified. MacKenzie was on her knees staring at the house that was on fire.

"Em..." she muttered as Her dad put a hand on her shoulder. "She might have made it out.." Sebastian muttered.

"We have to keep moving.. Come on.." MacKenzie's dad said helping her stand. We started walking again to somewhere. We weren't really sure where we were going.

"Look." Jason said pointing at the church. "We could use the fence around the church as a wall and a then we could lock it up and make it a big base!" Sebastian said.

"Good thinking Kid." MacKenzie's Dad said.

"Thanks Mr. Mackenzie's Dad!" Sebastian said with a smile.

"Please. Call me Mike or Mr. Tattaran." Mr. Tattaran Said.

We walked up the the church as opened the gate. "This is great." I said pulling my little sister inside.

"I'm glad we find a place to call home." Jason said.

A low whisper came from MacKenzie.
                            "Home."
