Right as I was about to focus on the arrangement of the cabins, Rantaro flicked my shoulder.

"Hey, you should probably be paying attention. This girl's explaining some important stuff."

My eyes snapped back to the girl every camp counselor seemed to be staring at. She had long cerulean blue hair, and matching eyes. Under her eyes were a small pair of glasses, that seemed to have taken some damage from being at camp for so many years. I started listening in the middle of her seminar, but I got the gist of everything.

"-in your cabin with you! Now, when it comes to actual counseling, you're gonna be doing a lot of work!"

I took my attention away for a second to ask Rantaro who this is even was.
Apparently her name is Tsumugi, and she's going to be our head counselor.

"-remember from last year, but I'll explain it for the newcomers. Our counseling is split up into three groups, which each go to different buildings. We have a gym group, an arts group, and a science group. Each group will ideally have 5 members each, but we may allow exceptions. Don't forget which group you counsel for will not affect your counselor life, so don't just go for what your friends are going for!
If you're curious about more information on which group you should choose, take a look at the paper handout provided!"

I saw a couple people looking down at their handouts, but most had already decided where they were going. If I was alone I probably would've instantly said the science group, but since Rantaro was my only friend I was just going to follow him. He seemed to be looking through each of the group descriptions carefully.

"..Hm. I'm not really particularly fond of any of these subjects."

He continued to stare at the paper.

"I swear I'm not usually this indecisive..." he tapped his finger a few times before raising his hand.

"Hey, Tsumugi. How much time do we have before we sign up for this stuff?"

Tsumugi responded instantly, as if scripts for questions like this had been already in her mind.

"You've got about five minutes! More and more people will be signing up for each group though, so slots may fill up before you decide."

Huh? Signing up? I had no idea we were even signing anything, but Rantaro instantly knew where to go.
Must've been part of the lecture I didn't hear.

We headed over to the sign-in sheet and looked at the lists. There were two slots left for gym, only one left for science, and a whole four left for arts and crafts. Rantaro turned back to me and gave me a rundown of his thought process.

"If we're signing up together, we're gonna need to do gym or art. You really don't seem like the type to enjoy gym, so I'll just sign us up for art. Plus, little kids make super funny drawings sometimes."

I gave him a simple nod, and proceeded to sign my name once he was done. Behind me I heard the crowd of teenagers bickering, but I could only make out one conversation. It was braids girl.

"Himiko! You know I always sign up for gym, and I'd hate to go without you. Please don't abandon me for some crummy other building!"

The other girl seemed mildly annoyed. Pretty grouchy. Maybe because she just woke up from her bus nap?

"..Nyeh.. Tenko, Tsumugi told us our counselor life wouldn't be interfered... And I hated gym last year.. The kids would always throw balls at me."
