In my room, all alone.

I just had to check.

Curtain was down. Door was closed. Key was in the lock. Medicine taken. Phone reachable. Window openable (what the hell). If needed, I mean.

I took a deep breath and a strong grip from my bed. If I was to go down, I will do it properly.

Damn was I dramatic.

I cleared my head from thoughts and pulled my myself on my feet and collapsed on my bed, but not before I had taken a firm stand, most of my weight in my hands as they grip the bed. I smiled to myself and sat up, lifting myself on my chair.

Hah. Bite dust, dad. I'll run again.

~~~
"I can dress myself, mum," I reminded my mum again.
She smiled. "Of course."
Before she could leave, I asked mum, "Why didn't we know that Rhonda and Aunt Anne had moved here?"
Mum turned and her smile was gone. "Your father -" she started slowly, "- didn't like that even if she lost a leg, she could still run. I never told you this, Lea, but... He was the one to arrange the accident with the chainsaw. He didn't like Rhonda. She was as good as you as a runner. He thought if she lost a leg she couldn't run.
"Anne doesn't know. After the accident your father told them to move and never tell us where they lived. They just didn't know that we moved here almost five years ago."
Five years ago I lost my legs. I lost my dad.
I nodded and mum left.
Ash called. I declined.
