"Why won't you give up?" I asked myself as I watched Leanne roll towards me.
Because you're developing feelings for her, my subconcious answered but I pushed it away and grinned at approaching Lea.
"Ready for day two?" I asked, signaling towards the tall tree that was covered in snow.
She sighed and then smiled a beautiful smile. "Let's get this over with."
I grinned and pulled out The Secret Garden from my pocket and skipped until it came to their daily rituals. "Right! Now, because we are not children, we do not call out to some Power or whatever it is. Instead, try to think of something that makes you hopeful. Something to do this for."
She pulled a thoughtful face (which was overly cute) and then brightly said, "Done."
"Okay, next I'm going to lift you up from that chair, and you will fight with every vibre of your body to stand with me to by your side. But don't worry, we'll do it slowly; you could stand maybe next week. Just try," I encouraged. She nodded. "Keep your power in your mind."
She smiled a bit and closed her eyes tightly. Concentrating on her legs. I walked over to her and took a tight grip of her, asking, "Are you ready?" and she nodded. Then I lifted her and held her up. She wasn't heavy, no. I just had to keep all of her body up as she couldn't take any of the weight.
Right then her knees bent and came straight again.
We both were so surprised that I accidentally dropped Leanne and she smacked right back to her chair, taking deep reaths because she had focused so hard. "Did you see that?"she asked me, who was staring at her knees.
"Yeah," I said.
"I can't believe it," she breathed, "I was about to fall onto my knees but I got them straight!"
We turned to look at each other and then we started screaming.

"This is amazing!" I said as we both took a sip from our tea cups. "You can still stand!"
Lea looked a bit down but said, "Yeah, it would be amazing if I could stand for my birthday."
I clapped my hands together. "It's a week away! We still have time, if we practise every day!" She nodded, but didn't smile. I nudged her. "Hey. What's wrong?" I asked her, all smile gone.
"It's my dad," she said, grabbing her cup so hard her knuckles turned white. "He said he didn't want to see me if I didn't win the Olympics. He left me because, well. You know."
"That's even a greater reason to practise," I said taking her hand to my own. "Show him that you're not done yet with your dream. That you will fight your paralyzed legs and against all odds."
"It wasn't my dad I was thinking about when you said to think of something to give me strenght," she said louder, not meeting my eyes but watching our entwined fingers. "It was mum, Rho, my friends, Cira, but most of all, you."
I was taken aback. "Why? Why me most of all?" I asked sliding my thumb across her knuckles.
"You are so much more to me, Ash." She smiled a bit. "You're the only one who fights with me."
