Chapter Two - Who Are You Again?

I scowled into the mirror in my mother's bedroom. The dress was hideous. It looks like a rag.

"Gee, look at your face. It's like you swallowed a frog or something." Christy sneered into the mirror, wearing a long, peach coloured gown.

"Oh, and you're the one talking, Miss walking cream puff."I snapped, urgently tugging on my dress. It was blue, and very short.

"Girls!"My mother snapped back at us, shaking her head,"stop fighting!"

I rolled my eyes. "This looks hideous." I growled miserably at my mother.

I heard Christy chuckle. "Maybe it's just because of the person who's wearing it."She murmured, pretending that I couldn't hear her annoyingly high pitched voice.

"Okay. That's it, Christy! If you say another word, I swear, I'll shove my fist up your nose."I spinned around and glared at her.

She rolled her eyes and stepped out of the room.

"Nice one."Carina giggled and started brushing her cheeks with blush.

I turned and saw my mother looking at me with narrowed eyes.

"What? She deserved that one."I crossed my arms and kept on tugging on the skirt.

"It would really help if you try to get along with her."Mom sighed. I looked at her reflection in the mirror. She was wearing a tasteful, classic LBD. Paired with studded Jimmy Choos. She looked like my sister instead of my mother. Many people mistake my mother for my sister.

"Two more months and I'm am outta here."I replied, brushing my hair with my fingers.

"Oreos?"Carina offered me a cookie. I shook my head.

"Suit yourself."She shrugged and popped one in her mouth. I thought she was on a diet...

"I thought you loved Oreos."My mother said, taking a clip from her stylist and pinning it into her long hair.

"A long time ago."I mumbled, eyeing a stack of magazines in the corner of the room.

"Caina. I don't think that Oreos are such a good idea."I told Carina, grabbing the pack out of her hands. She whimpered, "But..."

"Do you want gross black teeth?"I demanded, looking right into her fake eyes.

"No..."She ducked her head and mumbled something I couldn't hear.

My mother gave Carina a look of sympathy.

"So, I'm going to go downstairs now." I announced, pushing open the double doors and heading down the stairs, before my mother can lecture me on manners.

The waitstaff was still setting things up. Putting fresh cut roses into my mother's crystal vases and filled it with sparkling water. I watched as my mother entered the room, a proud smile touched her lips. She looked happy, if that was even possible.

"It's looking good."I said, touching a delicate rose petal with my fingers. Admiring the beauty of the petal.

"Yeah. Honey, why don't you go outside, to the garden, in case some guests arrive."She suggested.

I was already on my way when she finished her sentence.

The garden was a perfect picture out of a magazine. With roses and multiply flowers at full bloom. The air smelled like flower petals and mixed floral perfume. I breathed in the lovely scent and closed my eyes. I felt free, I felt good. Which was very rare. I watched the water tickled off the fountain in the garden and sparkle into the big mass of water. Everything in the garden was so... perfect...
