My smartphone thrummed a weird sound.
Her face appeared on my mind.
I checked my heart - it missed a beat.
I could not miss her call this time.
I wish the news were in lockdown!
I picked it up and took the lead:
"I love you, mom! And I'm alright!"
She breathed it in - I laughed it out.
And golden light beaconed my dark
with countless fires of her heart.
I used to hunt her as a child -
my kiss would never miss her smile.
Her loving arms sprouted my wings.
I flicked across her Soviet grounds
and flew away to promised lands.
Since then I visit her at night.
Too bad, she always sleeps too tight!
She can't recall a single case
of meeting with me in her dreams.
No wonder why she's missing me...
I judged myself for playing lost
as if I didn't give a toss.
It takes no time to call my mom -
the lesson I have learned just now.
This global lockdown set me free
from my free-willed self-quarantine.
I made a pledge to overcome
all judgments that would hold me down.
Now every day I call my mom
to say "Hello!" and let her know
how blessed I am to call her Mom.
