We disconnect -
to get back to our separate worlds;
to get stuck in our loops of thoughts,
feelings, and emotions.
We shut all windows to openness
to preserve space for awkward silence,
and dashing outspokenness.
We rush and run
in perpetual motion towards life -
Will we ever stop to rise and thrive
in the splendor of its vigor?
We hide from the Sun
to worship the moon in the darkness,
strange to our own starkness,
brilliance and genius.
And in lockdown,
we long for meaningful connections,
deep talks and silent conversations,
friendships, and affections.
We open up heart space to gratefulness
for no big reason yet with big pleasantness,
and deep appreciation
for little things -
for heartfelt messages we receive,
for the serenade of birds on trees,
What a dualistic life we live!
