For Christ Consciousness

9 2 2

We betrayed him
but he was never betrayed.
We listened but he wasn't heard.
The message he conveyed
was labeled as absurd.
Many followed him
but he was followed by a few.
We vowed and he answered our pleas,
as he walked the path through
on his merciful knees.
We loved him
but he loved us beyond.
We worshiped but he didn't look down.
He re-established the bond
between the King and a clown.
We judged him
but he was never judged.
We blamed but he had no guilt.
And we were discharged
by the blood that he spilled.
We met with him
but he was never perceived.
We yearned but his salt was denied.
Yet the world he conceived
would never be crucified.
