I whipped through the streets at an incredible speed, Titan blood splattered on my face.

My hair rippled behind me in the wind as I latched and unlatched the hooks of my ODM gear to the bricks of the abandoned buildings of the town. I was looking for my next target.

All I wanted to do at the time was slay Titans, as I was permitted to do at the moment, considering I was in the middle of Titan country in an expedition.

Then, from the side, I heard a blood curdling scream. Someone was in danger! I stopped in my tracks and headed towards the direction I heard the scream from.

The rookies from Dirk Squad in between the support and wagon line had run right into the abnormal Titans that had breached the formation, and were the reason why we were in this town in the first place.

I smiled. Time to hunt, for I am a hunter, and they are my prey!

With a quick and neat technique, I swiftly sliced the napes of the Titans, three at once, my cuts so fast they didn't even blunt or heat up my blades from the tough, hot flesh. The other two I crippled, swerving around their bodies and cutting off their achilles heels.

Then, I finished them off. Landing on the ground, I sliced the jaw of one Titan with a petrified cadet in its mouth, and helped the other cadets out from the other Titan's  hands.

The five of them ran back to the other cadets, huddled in groups on the roofs. Some of the horses they were ordered to protect were dead

They repeatedly thanked me, relieved for saving their lives.

"Damn, what was Commander Erwin thinking? Leaving these cadets in the middle of the town while the majority of us went to handle these abnormals coming from the East here. Considering the abnormals made it to the center of the town, where the new recruits were, the offense line that was sent to kill these abnormals were most likely wiped out."  I took a moment to wipe blood off my face.

"Why'd I have to be assigned defense- for scouting the other directions for Titans? I may have killed 3 that came in, but if I were put on offense I could've gone and killed these abnormals easily, made sure they didn't wipe out as many people as they probably did!" I thought angrily to myself.

I turned back to the cadets, pushing my blades into the empty slots of my gear, and wiped the blood off my face.

"I hope you all watched and learned from that, rookies. I'm sorry you all had to have such a close and traumatizing experience such as that, but, this is what you're gonna see when you join us Scouts, no matter what. Now gather the horses and get to a safe distance. We're gonna keep going unless Commander Erwin decides we've had too many casualties and ends the expedition here." I ordered the cadets, in a serious, commanding tone.

One of the cadets, a big meathead, apologized. "I'm sorry for my actions earlier, lieutenant! You're much stronger than I anticipated." This blockhead was a guy who thought I was weak and took me on in hand-to-hand combat, which I beat him easily in- approximately 2 seconds at least.

I scoffed at him. "You've ever heard the term- "don't judge a book by its cover," boy? Take this as an example. Make an assumption on me again-" I quickly raised the tip of my blade to his neck. "And I'll cut you down where you stand."

The cadet gulped in fear. "Y-yes ma'am!" He obeyed, before scurrying off.

I sighed, having to deal with nuisances like him. "You all heard your orders, now go!" I shouted at the rest. Quickly they all obeyed, starting to unhitch the horses.

I then flew off, back to my own squad, who were perched on a roof.

"Where did you go, Valeri? Off to save someone against orders again?" Oluo teased.
