Niall and I were sitting in his room watching a film, the boys were coming over in the morning. And by boys I mean Harry, Louis, Zayn, and Liam. Once they heard the news, they immediately decided they needed to come see us.
"Niall," I sighed, sitting up from his cuddle and paused the movie. He sat up and leaned against the headboard looking at me worriedly.
"What's the matter, Mel?" he asked nervously.
I clutched the necklace he had given me and let out a shaky breath, "Niall we're not safe," I whispered.
"What?" he asked, reaching out and grabbing my hand, "Baby I won't let anyone hurt you." I shook my head and tears formed in my eyes.
"It's not over," I trembled.
He moved closer and pulled me into his chest, "Babe, I know the shooting today was scary and nerve-wracking, but we're going to be okay," he whispered, lightly rubbing my back.
I pulled away and sat up shaking my head, "No. It's not over," I repeated, digging in my pocket.
Niall sat up and raised an eyebrow.
"You have to promise you won't say anything," I whispered, holding the note.
"What is that?" he reached out to grab it but I yanked away causing him to frown.
"Niall. You have to promise," I warned.
He nodded, not taking his eyes off the note, "I promise."
I sighed and handed the note to him, "The rock that came through the window. That was attached."
He read it and I saw his face exchange from confused to extremely concerned and angry. He glared up at me, "It's you we want!? Over my dead fucking body!" my eyes widened, "Why didn't you tell me when it first happened!?" he huffed.
"It was sort of a bad time..." I mumbled, "I wanted to tell you alone."
"Bad time!? When is it ever a good time!?" he barked, clenching the note in his fist.
I shook my head and turned the other way. I dangled my feet off his bed and stared at the floor, "I'm sorry," I choked out, "I should go home to Canada. Leave you out of this mess," hot tears slid down my cheeks.
I felt the bed shift and arms wrap around my waist. Niall's head layed against my upper back, "No Melody, no. I'm sorry, I'm just stressed out about this. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anyone hurt you."
I grabbed his arms and hugged them, "I won't let anyone hurt me, Niall. I'm strong."
I heard a soft chuckle and a kiss planted on my cheek, "that's why I love you."
I smiled and wiped the tears away.
"But," Niall added, turning me around to face him, "this is a serious situation, we have to tell somebody."
I shook my head, "Niall I don't want our time together to be ruined," I sighed.
He wiped away a stray tear and spoke calmly, "But what if something happens?" he frowned.
"We'll be okay, we'll stay on the down low," I paused and sighed, "I know it's a stupid idea but I just want some peace and quiet with you," I mumbled leaning into him. He layed down and I hugged his waist, resting my head on his chest.
"We stay on the down low for a couple of days, but as soon as this weeks up, we're telling someone," he explained rubbing my back.
I closed my eyes and slightly nodded, "Okay."
"And you're not going to go home either," he added.
"What, why?" I questioned, looking up at him.
He frowned at me, "because I'm not risking anyone following you home and then I can't protect you."
I lightly rubbed his stomach, "thanks for the concern, we'll see when the weeks up. Six days starting tomorrow," I mumbled.
He sighed, "six days." I reached up, lightly kissed his neck and rested my head back on his chest.
"I love you, Niall," I mumbled and yawned.
"I love you too, Melody," he whispered.
