"Well, I'm not going anywhere, Niall."
Niall looked up at me from my chest and smiled, leaning in to kiss my cheek.
"You okay?" I whispered.
He smiled and nodded, "yeah. Cmon," he sat up, slid off the bed and grabbed my hand, pulling me up into his arms, "Let's clean this mess up."
...
The police arrived twenty minutes later. There were two of them, officer O'Donnell and officer Norman. They were talking to Niall's parents and us as we all gathered in the living room. Niall and I sat on the love seat, hand in hand.
The police took the rock and note and explained to us the danger Niall and his family could possibly be in, the danger I could be in, and the danger One Direction could be in. They advised that I should stay in Ireland with Niall until they get it all sorted out.
"Do you think this could possibly be a misunderstanding?" Maura asked, a nautious look on her face.
"Ma'am this person- or people- shot three girls, this is no misunderstanding," Officer Norman explained, "And whereas your son is a celebrity, it's even harder to keep him hidden when the whole world is watching his every move."
She simply nodded and sadly looked at her beloved husband Bobby.
Officer Norman turned to Niall and I, "so what I need you guys to do is stay very hidden and make sure you have bodyguards around everywhere you go. Understand?"
We nodded and I asked, "do you think the rock will even help?"
"That's if the suspect was dumb enough to not wear gloves to hide his fingerprints. For your sake, and our sake let's hope they're a real idiot."
I smiled lightly and nodded.
"Oh," Niall spoke up, "next week I need to fly out to America for the release of the new album."
Officer O'Donnell shook his head, "you must not leave Ireland."
"But wouldn't it be safer to leave the country that someone is trying to kill us in?" Niall questioned.
Officer O'Donnell huffed and frowned, "No. Because what if this person is stalking you, and they follow you to America... Once you leave, there's nothing we can do to protect you."
Niall sighed loudly and leaned back against the seat and pushed his palms against his shut eye lids, "This is so unfair," he mumbled.
I looked away from him, stared at the ground and crossed my arms over my lap. It's all my fault. I feel so bad for all of this, I should just allow whatever they want to happen to me, to happen so everyone can just forget about it and be happy. I let out a small sigh and scooted away from Niall a bit.
"Now," Officer Norman added, "we think it may be best if you stay off all social media sites whereas someone can track you down."
Niall sat up and frowned, "She can't!" he pointed to me, "she has family all the way in Canada who are worried and would appreciate staying in touch with each other."
Officer Norman looked at me sympathetically, "You call them tonight, explain to them what needs to be done and then you both turn off your phones. Understand?"
Niall began to protest again, "but-"
"No buts Mr. Horan, we might even think it best if you and Miss. Jolie hide out somewhere far from here," he suggested.
Niall shook his head, "No way. You can't shut us from the world, lots of people have problems, but you don't see them running!"
"Niall, tone," Maura warned. He sighed and sat back in the seat.
"Where would we go?" he asked, staring at the ceiling, clear annoyance in his voice.
Officer O'Donnell shrugged, "we aren't sure yet. If we feel there's a threat, we'll have you hide out somewhere together."
I looked at Niall with a sad expression and he rolled his eyes and walked away.
"I'm very sorry for the behaviour," Bobby apologized immediatley, "he's not normally like this."
That was true.
"It's okay," Officer O'Donnell nodded understandingly, "If I were him I'd be upset too, being famous and all..."
I frowned and looked at Niall's parents.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Bobby asked.
Officer O'Donnell shook his head and stood up, "Nothing. Thank you for your time, we must be going; we'll call if we find anything."
The officers shook hands with us and left.
