Broken Promises

Day1 [The patient]

"Chang Yuni, a new patient is waiting for you in room 414."

Yuni nodded as she grabbed a nearby clipboard and rushed towards the said room. Before entering she placed a strand of ashy hair behind her ear and took a deep breath.

"Hello Mr Kwon Soonyoung, I'm Dr.Yuni Chang and you'll be under my supervision until recovery."

Soonyoung looked up with a smile, "how lucky am I to have a hot doctor keeping me busy."

Yuni kept her composure, standing up even straighter. She looked up at the ceiling refusing any eye contact from the patient.

"Just a reminder that I'm only your doctor, nothing else."

A smirk appeared on Soonyoung's face, "I'm sorry princess, I'm just stating facts."

Before Yuni could say something she would regret, Dr Kim Mingyu entered the room. "Sorry for the disturbance, I just need to ask a couple of questions to the patient."

Immediately Yuni bowed at the sight of her senior, "No worries Dr.Kim, you weren't disturbing anything."

He smiled softly, "Shall we start with the Q&A, Mr.Kwon?"

Soonyoung scoffed, "I refuse to answer any questions unless it's from Yuni."

Dr.Kim hummed and nodded his head, "Luckily I have no issue with that..."

Placing a hand on Yuni's shoulder, he smiled at her and quietly whispered,

"I'll leave it to you now"

The butterflies came flying and stirring in her stomach, and a distinct warmth spread across her cheeks.

"Uhh, yes Dr.Kim!"

Once Dr.Kim was out of the room, Yuni let out a deep breath she didn't know she was holding. She paced towards her patient.

*Snap*

"Excuse me, princess, weren't you going to ask me some questions?"

Yuni returned to her usual self, "Yes Mr Kwon, can you tell me what happened and how you got these injuries?"

Soonyoung propped his head up with his hands, "Got into a fight."

Yuni wrote onto her clipboard as he spoke; glancing now and then at the patient.

"Any pain or discomfort?"

Soonyoung nodded with a regained smirk on his face and pointed at his heart, "Right here, can you help me with it?"

Yuni furrowed her eyebrows and took a deep breath, "Sir, if you mind, I am not here to play games with you. This is a hospital campus and people are dying and suffering in each of the rooms. Now if you may please, tell me your injuries and if you've got none, escort yourself out of our building."

"H-haha chill doc, my chest hurts and breathing is painful."

He pointed with a pout.

Yuni looked away with embarrassment but quickly resumed to fill the information onto her clipboard.

"This is all I need for today, the nurses will come in shortly with your meds."

Halfway out the door, Soonyoung yelled out,

"Wait!" Dr Yuni turned on her heel to see Soonyoung sitting up for the first time,

"When do I get to see you again?"

Her response was quick, "Probably later on." Soonyoung's smirk appeared again, "Sweet! See you, later princess."

Yuni closed the door to Soonyoung room and placed the clipboard into the small slot beside it.

Inside the hospital room, Soonyoung clenched his jaw and squeezed his eyes shut.

Breathing deeply he says, "I guess the pain isn't gonna be gone anytime soon."

Exhausted, Yuni slumped into her chair at the nurse's station and sank into the embrace of the squishy foam.

"WAY TO GO YUNI"

The brown-haired girl jolts at the loud yelling and throws her hands high up in defence, preparing to attack anyone and anything.

"Woah there, don't hit me!" Mae Yijin screamed.

"MAE YIJIN why did you have to scare me like that T^T!"

After the two girls steadied their breaths from the scare, Yijin resumed,

"I-I was about to say how lucky you are for having such an adorable patient, the entirety of the  second floor is crushing over him."

Yuni scoffed, "You think he's attractive? He seems like nothing but a playboy and a hassle for doctors."

Mae giggled, "I guess Dr you know who has competition."

Yuni exasperatedly slaps Mae's right shoulder

"Don't mention him."

"Ahaha, you're BLUSHING."

Mae sat up from her chair, walked,  and turned around to wave cutely,

"I have to do rounds,  so I'll see you later! Don't get distracted from Mingyu or Soonyoung....OR BOTH."

Yuni giggled to herself and began to work on her report.

Yuni ordered an Xray scan for Soonyoung, worrying that he might've broken a rib.

Entering that room again, she saw Soonyoung shaking and sweating. She shook his body,

"Mr.Kwon...wake up Mr.Kwon."

With no response, Yuni put a hand to his bicep. Soonyoung's eyes sprang open, his body drenched in sweat and gasping for air.

"It's ok Soonyoung, breath. It's only a nightmare." Yuni soothed, to which Soonyoung compiled while breathing in and out

"Ya, it's only a dream."

She stared at his helpless figure and began to inhale his features; the fluffy hair, the cute round cheeks and a small scar on his forearm.

He has a nice jawline too, sharp and defined

what are you thinking Yuni you're only loyal to Mingyu

"I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep, but we have to give you an Xray scan to check your ribs."

Soonyoung, visibly still shaking, held onto Yuni's hand, "It won't hurt...right doc?"

She gave a reassuring squeeze

"It won't, we're just scanning your body for any injuries; no pain whatsoever, I assure you"

The nurses came in and wheeled Soonyoung to the location of the scan. Soonyoung unlaced their hands, wanting to regain that warmth again

"I'll see you after this is all done?"

Yuni nodded

"After it's all done"
