Nostalgia.
It's a euphoric but sad feeling.
All those memories of your loved ones.
It can also hurt.
Her angelic and cute laugh.
Her flawless smile. You haven't spoken to her in months, but it feels like you haven't spoken to her in a decade. Your position as best friend? Replaced.
You knew it yourself but you never wanted to believe it, he'll it's been three months and you still have a small lingering flame of hope. Hoping that one day, she'll come back to you and call out to you.
As you carried your duffel bag towards the bus stop, you notice two black vans cross your peripheral vision, they looked like the ones you saw yesterday outside the OTR building. You scoffed at the idea and quickly sat down on the bench, awaiting the bus.
Time skip
You had just gotten off of the bus, thanking the driver as you did so. Your two legs quickly made their way towards the back entrance of the KONTENT building, trainees were already occupying the various dance rooms and were sweating furiously.
Your uncle wanted to meet you in the production studio, he wanted to discuss with you and your friends about the survival show and begin your preparations.
It never donned on you how hectic your life would become from this day forward as you turned the shiny metal doorknob, swinging it open as you entered the room with other officials and your uncle.
You quickly bowed to everyone in the room and took your seat, staying as quiet as possible as you waited for the meeting to begin.
"Now as you boys know, you'll be participating on PRODUCE 101, we have a chance at finally bringing recognition to our company!" Your uncle was always ambitious and it was his dream to have a well-known idol agency, one that guaranteed you fame. "From today going forward into the show you will begin practicing your evaluation performance. We've taken it upon ourselves to assign you guys, 'JELLY' by HotShot, you will assign group roles with each other and practice will begin immediately, treat this as an evaluation here except the entire company depends on you boys to succeed."
Their newly hired manager led them out of the door and into a newly renovated practice room, where they discussed among each other their roles as a group and who would cover who.
After a long day of learning the lines and beginning the choreography you all were tired and panting for air, your sweat-soaked shirt was not helping at all.
"Let's go out and get something to eat, to celebrate!" Tobias energetically said as he attempted to pull you and the others up from the wooden floor."So you're paying?" Haejoon playfully responded as he took a swig from his water bottle, before lifting himself up from the ground and resuming his solo practice session.
"You know that doesn't sound so bad! Who knows you could meet some girls!" Hyunseok reluctantly agreed to the idea as he began to grab his belongings from the corner of the room.
"Oh please as if you can even get one to say hello to you." Seongwoo playfully teased him, squeezing him with a strong hug as he carried him around the room, the sound of laughing and yelling echoing throughout the room you stared at the four, a soft smile glued onto your face.
These were the guys you were always surrounded by, they always knew how to cheer you up, and were always protective over you since you were the youngest in your friend group. "So whatta you say, Lee Y/N? Wanna hang out with the guys before we practice even more tomorrow?"
"You ask that as if you don't know my answer." You quickly gathered your duffel bag after swapping out of your practice clothing and quickly stuffing yourself into a long, beige trench coat.
As you all made your way towards the local Korean BBQ restaurant, you realized you haven't had this much fun for awhile and honestly, you craved it. With each joke, followed laughter and with each step, the bond between you and your group of friends, strengthened.
The restaurant itself was almost empty, but the smell of barbecue hung in the air as you all were seated. As the night grew on you had forgotten about everything. The pain, the stress, the days you spent laying in your bed crying over Chaewon.
It was something you needed after a harsh three months of being hungover a girl, fate however, had other plans.
CHAEWON's POV
Filming had finally finished and the comeback was finally in its last stages of preparation. The music video now had to be edited and published and promotions would finally begin once more, god you missed the loud roaring of your fans.
"Hey I was wondering if you guys wanted to go eat to celebrate! There's a Korean BBQ place nearby that Hyewon and I have always wanted to try!" Yena and Hyewon had lots of ways of expressing their excitement, and eating was one of them.
After a long moment of bickering and laughing amongst each other, the car finally came to a halt. 'BBQ Chikken.' you read in your head as your group members pulled you into the restaurant, you all were quickly seated in front of a small group of five or so males.
Curiosity caught the better of you and you glanced over to see if you knew anyone familiar, and boy did you regret it.
THIRD PERSON POV
Y/N and Chaewon were both directly staring at each other. Their face covered in shock as Chaewon quickly turned her head to avoid Y/N's gaze.
"I think I'm gonna go get some air." Y/N abruptly stood up and took off, pushing aside chairs and other objects out of his way. Chaewon tried her best to ignore him and keep her head down, playing with her fingertips before ultimately rushing out the restaurant where she spotted Y/N, sitting on a bench, his face covered by his long bangs.
She quickly and quietly made her way over to him where she sat down , hugging the arm rest. "H-hey..Y/N.." She received no answer as an awkward silence surrounded the two. "H-how have y-." She was interrupted by Y/N. "It's funny isn't it. Even after three months of being away from you, you're everywhere. You're always resonating in my mind and quite frankly even I don't mind it..Months and months have passed since you rejected me, and my heart still aches for you when yours aches for another."
She was silent, she didn't know what to say and even how to feel in the situation. "You know everyday, I still wake up hoping that one day you'd come back, calling out my name..it's stupid of me." She tried to speak and tell him it wasn't stupid and how she wanted to comfort him, but nothing came out of her mouth.
"How were these three months? How's the boyfriend? How's IZ*ONE?" Y/N stood up and turned himself away from her. "Even though my heart is broken, I still care enough to see you happy, it's stupid."
That stupid rang in her head, echoing throughout her mind as tears slowly began to run down her eye. "I-i'm sorry! I-i didn't mean t-" Y/N raised his voice, an angry but heart-broken sob came from his tongue as he cut her off once more.
"Kim Chaewon..
..Don't ever talk to me again."Y/N began to walk off towards the direction of his house, the sidewalk was littered with small wet patches where his tears landed, yet he still wanted to run back to her and tell her how much he missed her.
Funny how love can make you so cruel, but make you feel sad and nostalgic over the person it aches for.
