Cal and I walk out on the balcony. I shiver when I feel the cold night air hit my skin. Cal notices and puts his arm around my shoulders to keep me warm. I look out into the horizon unable to meet his gaze. His warm hand goes under my chin, and he tilts my head up. I turn to face him. I look into his golden, blazing eyes. He smiles at me, and I smile back. "Mare you know I love you, and I want you to be with me for the rest of my life." In that moment he got on one knee and said"mare will you marry me and become my queen". I try to hold back the tears but I fail. "Yes of corse I'll marry you". He slides a red ruby ring on my left hand. I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss his warm, soft lips. He grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him. I break the kiss first and tell him"we should probably go back inside". When we start to walk inside I think about our future together, and I think about what difference I can make being queen.
When I get back to my room I look at the ring. It's a white golden band with one ruby in the middle of the ring, and little diamonds around it . The ruby is red, like my blood. I go and take a quick shower, and slip in the cold silk sheets. When I try to fall asleep I fail. I just can't stop thinking about Cal. I think about my brother and how I could have saved him, from his horrible fate. I think about my family and how far we have come since the silts, and the one thing that I dread thinking about is those manacles around my wrists, and the silent stone. It makes me shiver just thinking about it. Finally I close my eyes and fall to sleep.
