The Kiss of Betrayal

Chapter 6

"Mare?!" He says I look up at Cal and smile. I have never seen such a handsome face. His bronze eyes look down on me. I can see that he is starting to cry. I jump off the bed and just hug him. I start to cry too. He lets the tears fall, instead of evaporating them. He wraps his arms around my back and pulls me closer to his chest. "I thought I lost you Mare. I thought I lost the love of my life." I look up at him telling him it's ok to continue. He nods. " I saw that Maven was behind you with a gun. I tried to grab you before he could shoot, but it was too late. He shot you in the stomach. I tried putting presser on the wound but 5 minutes after we got to to the Medical wing..." I crash my lips on his, not wanting him to continue. He wraps his arms around my waist. I jump up and wrap my legs around his waist. He moves to my neck. He kisses along my jaw line, and then the lower part of my neck. I moan so quietly I am certain he didn't hear it. I was wrong. He moves me to the bed and his lips go back to mine. He sets me down on his bed and gets on top of me. I run my fingers through his hair pulling him closer to me. I finally pull back gasping for air.

         I look up getting a good look of his handsome face. He is growing out his hair. His curls are covering his forehead. Wet from his shower. His jawline is as sharp as ever. His pale skin, and those beautiful amber eyes. I smile. He smiles back. "I love you." I say. " I love you too." He replies. I kiss him one last time. He knows that I'm tiered. He gets off of me and lays next to me. I get under the silk sheets. He does the same. I lay my head on his chest. I listen to his heart beat. Soon I fall into a deep sleep.

             I wake up to a kiss on my forehead. "Good morning beautiful." Cal says smiling. "Good morning." I reply. I give a peck of a kiss on his lips. I sit up realizing how awful my hair looks. Cal also sits up. I laugh at him. "What?" He says all confused. "Go look in the mirror." I say in between laughs. He gets up and goes to the mirror in the bathroom. I hear a laugh. " you look like you have an Afro." I laugh again. He laughs with me. After a few tears from laughing too much he looks at me again. " We are going to meet a few new people today." I'm confused isn't that Davidson's job? " why?" I ask all confused. He smirks at me, " because we are the future king and queen of Norta." I smile at that. Not the queen part, but the part of Cal being my husband.

       "Fine." I say. He smiles. " I'm going to go to my room and change. See you at breakfast. Love you." I walk out of the door. I run to my room realizing that I only have Cal's shirt on, and my underwear. I make it to my room, and get a shower. I just sit there for a few minutes under the hot water. I finally get out. I brush my hair and put it up in French braids. I go to my closet. I put on my undergarments, then I put on leggings, black combat boots that go up to my ankles, and a black shirt. I walk out of my room and go to the Dinning room. When I get there I see Farley, Camron, Evangeline, Elaine, Cal, and Kilorn?! I keep my cool and go sit next to Cal. I grab his hand and squeeze it. He looks at me and whispers " I don't know why he is here either." I look at him and just nod. I start to eat my oatmeal. Then out of the blue I hear Kilorn say " good morning Mare." I just ignore him. He says good morning again and I just look at him. He smiles at me. That little bitch is going to act like nothing is wrong. I flip him off. " the Hell Kilorn, shouldn't you be with Maven since you know the closed you are going to get to me is being my best friend." I glare around him. He glares back. I challenge him by not looking away. He finally looks away. 

        " Mare let me explain." He says. I lost it at that point. I stand from my chair and slam my hands down on the table. " EXPLAIN WHAT KILORN?! PLEASE TELL ME HOW MY BEST FRIEND AND THE ONLY FRIEND I HAD FOR THE LONGEST TIME BETRAYED ME!! PLEASE TELL ME PLEASE." I walk out of the room.  I slam the door and start to run. I didn't realize that sparks were dancing around my hand, and traveling up my arms. I run outside and into the woods. I find a spot near a creek and sit down. Not to long after I hear Cal's voice. I yell at him so he knows where I am. He finds me pretty quick. He sits down next to me, and pulls me to his chest. I start to cry. My best friend betrayed me. He kisses the top of my head, and stokes my hair. " here Mare lets go back and just talk, and you can talk your mind out to me ok?" He says I nod. He helps me up and we walk back to the Castle, hand in hand.

   About 100 feet away from the castle i stop. I look again and ask to myself, why is he here, and what does he want?!
