There was not a lot to do in this house. They removed the television, radios, and basic electronics. We were stuck with board games, books, cooking, talking, and my personal favorite checking which window or door will open up first. So far I'm zero for zero, and neither Sarah or her husband Daniel has stopped me from trying. I did not bother to lie to them either. There was no point in doing so.

My first morning here I made them scrambled eggs and bacon. They ate it quickly and did not bother to inspect it for poison. I sat waiting for the questions, as they sat down after getting what food they wanted off the stove.

I did not eat with them because I had already had my fill half an hour earlier while they were sleeping. It surprised me for a few minutes, then I realized, we can smell poison in our food. Sarah rolled her eyes, noticing me burying my face in my hand for a split second. "So what's for lunch?" She asked. I rolled my eyes at her, "I was feeling a roast, but I don't think we have time for that." She walked over to the freezer, "if we start on it now we could have it for dinner." I smiled, "do you have a knife for the carrots?"

She glanced at Daniel who was at my back now. "Um." She began. "I really wanted it so I could use it to threaten one of you into letting me out of here." I said turning to face Daniel. His eyes narrowed, calculating if I was joking or not. "It's a joke. I literally want to cut carrots that is it." I told him. "Besides most of the household cleaners under the sink could make a powerful enough gas to knock you out then kill you. I don't need a knife."

"That's good to know." Sarah said. I sighed, "I wont get out of here alive if I do that." I sighed turning to face Sarah, "now that you two think I'm a potential murder I'm going to go find a book to read. While I contemplate why I even brought it up." I walked away leaving my plate in the empty sink to do as I said.

"At least you're honest." Daniel said with a light laugh. I scoffed feeling stupid for having a big mouth. Sarah helped with most of the cleaning when I cooked for them. Daniel helped me look for a good chopping knife and we found none. He did not think they would keep one in here. But he did not object to me asking for help looking in case it was overlooked.

"We have board games! Anyone want to play backgammon?" He asked after dinner. We had been cooped up a few days together and they still give me shit about exposing my knowledge about the chemicals. I groaned, I hated that game. "You also have books." I told him to hold up my latest find. "You guys have talons favorite story." Sarah looked confused, "that is way above his reading level." I rolled my eyes, "not mine, besides I read it to him differently." I informed her.

"How?" She asked. I sighed and looked at the page I was on and began reading to her like I read to Talon, "The hobbits made their way to the base of the super tall mountain. They realised that it was so tall that they would need help getting up there. On their way to the mountain they remembered they had come across a tiny village that was settled on a lake! Is that cool or what?!" Sarah smiled, "makes sense." I shrugged, "he loved it when I read to him. The older he got the more I had to choose my words carefully."

"He was very interested in reading. His favorite book was the one about the blue truck." She said. "Oh yeah, I read him that so many times...Talon had the damn thing memorized. I would just turn the pages." I told her laughing. She smiled, "he convinced me he knew how to read with that book. I was highly impressed, but Lydia called him out on it." I laughed, "I'm glad someone did. What did she do?"
