Reiki's POV
This mission, just as I had thought, was a complete waste of time. There really was no need for me to be present for it at all. Illumi took care of everything and the kid got reunited with his parents.
As soon as the mission was over, Illumi rushed us to our personal airship and we were already heading back to Kukuroo Mountain. Instead of rows of seats, the airship was equipped with various sofas and loveseats. Some were in the middle while others were next to windows. Illumi normally liked to sit in the middle, away from distractions.
I, on the other hand, liked to sit right next to the window. It was the closest I could get to look out at the outside.
See, Father didn't allow me outside the mansion unless the missions deemed it necessary. Even then, we moved at night and I had multiple bodyguards that would surround me.
Passing over the city, I could see that there were multiple lights and colorful banners placed in the center. This must be a festival. Killua had been able to go to with Illumi once, though it was for a mission.
He told me how it was for a big celebration, how there were multiple vendors and food stands. He's always had a sweet tooth, so his favorite was anything with chocolate. I couldn't argue with that, we both did share that love.
"Reiki, it's dangerous to be right next to the window. Why don't you come sit next to me? And you need to eat also." I let out a frustrated sigh before listening to my big brother. I could argue as much as I wanted but it wouldn't matter.
There was no real danger for me by sitting next to the window. But Illumi knew that since I was out of the mansion, he oversaw me. And if anything, bad happened, he would be in for it. It wouldn't be much, just a small torture session run by Milluki and Killua. Maybe Gramps would join too.
Which adds to my frustration more of why I was brought along.
It's not like Illumi ever got injured; and if he ever did, he would often wait until he got home for any medication attention from me. He once came waltzing into my room with several bullet wounds to the chest that were still bleeding profusely.
And when I saw waltzing, I literally mean waltzing. It was so nonchalant, the blood dripping from his wounds didn't bother him a bit. One had even punctured a lung and yet there was no labored breathing.
Illumi held a plate of meat and vegetables out to me once I sat next to him. We ate in silence together, the only noise to be heard was the clanking of our utensils on the plate. He had finished his before me.
"Care to share your thoughts?"
"You already know what I'm thinking."
"That this was a waste of time and you wish you could go outside?"
"Bingo." I soon finished the food and placed the plate back on the table in front of us. I then leaned back against the couch and closed my eyes. There was a sudden shift on the fabric, indicating that Illumi had moved. At first, I thought he had gotten up, but he instead leaned closer to me and placed his head on my shoulder.
This was awkward. The last time this happened was that night when Big brother had those bullets. We had fallen asleep on my bed, with him curled around my body.
"There's nothing special outside. Besides, you are the infamous daughter of the Zoldycks. If word got out that Dad was letting you roam freely, your life would be in danger."
"If that's the case, why don't you or Killua go with me to the festival?"
"Killua doesn't need to leave either. He has too big of a heart for an assassin, wanting to make friends. Have you ever heard anything so imprudent?"
