Reiki's POV

"I'm leaving."

I looked over in complete shock at my younger brother, Killua. He sat crossed legged on my bed, with his hands folded over his chest and his eyes closed. He normally did this when he didn't want to show off his true emotions.

But it was clear for me to see, due to my empathetic nature. I could see his confliction in his words. I could hear the nervous vibration in his voice, despite the calm way he spoke. I could also see how the muscles in his hands clenched as he said those words.

Ok, maybe it wasn't my nature. Maybe it was just cause Killua and I are very close.

It was the middle of the night, practically morning. Looking over at the clock, the bright red illuminated lights flashing '11:50 pm'. llumi was away on assignment, it was expected for him to be back right at midnight.

I was thankful for this mission that father sent him on. It gave me a long time and it also gave Killua and I some bonding time. Since the 'engagement', it was rare for me to have any time alone. It made it harder for Killua to talk freely.

Having the play, the role of obedient and loyal was so hard for a child his age. Especially since I knew this wasn't the life, he wanted for him.

His 'role' was just as hard as me. Not only was I expected to play the perfect daughter, but I was now expecting to play the perfect fiancé.

When news goes out that Illumi and I were off the market, it caused a huge backlash in the assassin community. Father, Mother, and even Gramps were swarmed with angry suitors, all demanding an explanation of how they or their children were not chosen for such an honor.

Illumi forced me to make an appearance that night in front of those families. His hand held onto mine tightly, to the point of cutting off circulation in my fingers. With his deadpan voice and void emotions, he formally announced his decision to take me as his bride.

And I, while biting the inside of my cheek to keep myself in check, was forced to say how I had eagerly accepted.

Excluding the members of the Zoldyck family, the room was full of groans and screams of disgust and anger. There was so much yelling going around that it was hard to keep track of what everyone was saying. But I was able to catch of how it wasn't proper for siblings to marry.

Those voice were immediately silence by my Grandpa, who sliced through the crowd, and literally sliced the throats of those who were yelling.

'Those of you who would like to live would be wise to keep your mouths shut. Though Reiki is not a Zoldyck by blood, she was taken into the family as a child and raised among us. She trained along side Illumi, growing close in the process. But I guess we can propose a battle royale of sorts if you'd like. The men who wish to pursue Reiki must battle Illumi; and the girls will battle Reiki. Not to the death, just until the 2nd to last breath. If you somehow win, I will perform the wedding tonight."

Illumi wasted no time in producing his nen, oozing bloodlust. His eyes seemed to glow brightly in the dark, a small smirk appearing on his face. The thought of being able to spill blood that night was appealing to him.

I didn't spill out my nen, but I did concentrate it into my hands for others to see, holding them up in a defense 'X' across my chest.

No one stepped up that night.

That was a few months ago. Since then, my life has fallen into a steady routine. My room was moved across Illumi's, making sure that we'd see each other every day. The mornings were me training with Gramp, perfecting my nen and healing the guards who were forced to train with me.
