"Same old, right sweetie?" Jeremy smiled at me as we entered Starbucks.
"Yep, thanks, I'll go sit over there first kind sir," I smirked and he laughed.
"Whatever pleases you, my lady." He retorted, and I stuck my tongue out at him.
I didn't bother to return a comment, lest we continue this ridiculous squabble forever. Besides, I needed my latte.
I walked over to a two-seater in a corner, and shrugged off the cardigan I was wearing. Not a good idea, though, because underneath the sweater I was only wearing spaghetti stripes.
And as everyone knew, I wasn't one to show too much skin. I picked it up from the chair and pulled it on, then sit down, drumming my fingers against the table whilst waiting for Jeremy.
When I went out with him, he would insist that I dress presentably and look good, as he put it. I wasn't allowed to wear baggy stuff like I did in school, and that was infuriating. I mean seriously, why would someone want to show off so much?
Geez that was so pathetic.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and I swung around to face a middle-aged woman, clutching onto her purse, looking very excited.
"Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt you, sorry if I did. I wanted to ask if you were a model."
She looked at me and I laughed out loud. Was this some kind of joke? Because if it was it was definitely very funny.
"Ha ha, are you serious?" I giggled, "Me? A model?" Then I started laughing again.
I couldn't help it, though I knew that I was probably pissing her off with my lack of self-control, but seriously? Me? A model?
I felt her thumping my back and I choked out my laughter, before eventually I managed to control my hysteria.
"Er, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to! I was just really shocked because I've been told I'm ugly and stuff, and models are supposed to be gorgeous, right?"
The lady smiled at me. "I-"
"You are gorgeous." Jeremy's voice came from behind me, and I noticed a smirk plastered on his face.
I rolled my eyes. "My dear, flattery isn't going to get you a pay raise, ok?"
The woman laughed, and I turned to look at her.
"He's not kidding, love. You are beautiful. Just that you don't put any effort into cultivating that beauty of yours. If you would let me, I would like to be your agent. I have faith in you, and you're exactly the type of girl Hollywood needs!"
When she finished her long speech, she let out a big grin. "So, what do you say?"
This was a little scary, she was starting to look a little like the Cheshire cat. And trust me, I wasn't a huge fan of him.
"Um, I don't know. I don't think I have the talent to do this, and it seems so hard. I'm not very smart or capable, maybe you should find somebody else?" I said, but it ended up sounding more like a question.
Jeremy handed me my latte, and I nodded gratefully, sipping at it before looking back at the lady.
"Girl, listen to me. I can make you famous. I can make every guy fall for you, worship the ground you walk on. I can make you rich, very rich. Wouldn't you like to earn some money before everyone else does?"
