I wake up to the sound of faint beeping noises and the muffled sound of people barking orders at each other.
Where the hell am i? And how did i get here?
I try to open my eyes but i all i can see is black.
There isn't any light or colors, just a seemingly endless void of black
I can't help but wonder if this is what death feels like.
Then it all comes rushing back to me, the show, falling, and the sirens.
Is Aspen okay? I need to make sure that she's okay.
What if she got hurt because of me?
I hear the door opening and a hear an unfamiliar voice saying ," Hello dear, i'm glad to see that you have woken up. Would you like something to drink? Water perhaps?" The person asks.
" No" I respond
" How are you feeling dear? Does your leg feel okay? You landed on it pretty hard when you fell." The random lady questions.
" My leg just feels numb, but why can't i feel anything?" i reply.
" Well, you hit your head pretty hard as well and certain head injuries, such as the one you sustained, can cause increased pressure within the skull and this puts pressure on your optic nerves, which carry messages from the eyes to the brain. The resulting problems can cause vision loss severe enough to lead to complete blindness. But we have to run a few more tests to be sure." The lady informs me.
" Would you mind saying that again without all the fancy language?" i request.
The lady responds by saying, " You hit your head very hard when you fell and you might suffer from permanent vision loss."
" Are you saying that i'm blind?" i gasp.
"Unfortunately, there is a 98% chance of permanent blindness." she explains.
"No, no, no, this is a dream. This can't be happening. It's a dream. It's a dream. Don't worry Ally, it's just a dream. Just a dream. Just. A. Dream." i say, hoping to convince my self that it really is just a nightmare.
" Listen Ally, we are going to have to make the best out of this situation, there is nothing me or any of the other doctor can do. I know this is hard but you will have to get used to it." The Lady tells me.
This isn't a dream, this is my life now. My whole life just turned upside down and i can't do anything about it. What am i supposed to do with my life now?
" i just called your parents, they should be here in 15 minutes." The lady informs me, interrupting my thoughts.
" Where are they?"
" They went home, don't worry they didn't leave you, we told them to go home and get some rest." then she leaves saying that she has to go to her office.
15 minutes later and they aren't here yet. They must have gotten stuck in traffic. When an hour passes and they still aren't here i can't help but think that they forgot about me.
I hear the lady in the hall on the phone, she sounds upset.
"i'm sorry, i must have misunderstood, their daughter just woke up and is already going through enough stress."
Is she talking about me?
" oh no, what am i supposed to tell her? Are you sure that i heard you right? poor girl. And she doesn't have other family?"
I hear the door opening, Must be the lady again. I wonder what she has to tell me.
"Ally, i have some bad news."
" it can't be that bad, i just found out that i am blind."
" i'm afraid it is, it's your parents."
" what happened, did they forget about me?"
" no, they were in a bad car crash."
" aren't car crashes pretty common?"
" yes, they are but this one was really bad."
" are they okay?"
"Ally, i'm sorry to say this , but your parents are no longer are with us."
