Final body check.
Jack stands on the scale, his eyes glance down at his scars. He takes a deep breath and looks at me. 6 feet tall, 156.3 pounds. He's at a healthy weight.
Lisa checks his body for any new wounds. She smiles and lets him go put his clothes back on. "He's perfect," she whispers once he's out of earshot. He really is.
He leaves today- not back to the psych hospital. I signed and returned the papers. He's technically free to go. But he doesn't know yet.
He has his stuff packed and ready to go back to the psych hospital. We go back at 2 pm.
I knock on his door and he looks up at me. "Are you ready?"
He shrugs. "I'm gonna miss feeling close to you all the time, I guess," he shrugs. "I didn't really make friends there, so it isn't like people are going to be happy with me back."
"I wish I could let you stay, but- having a mini-hospital in the basement is hard to work with," I explain.
Even all the hospital stuff is packed up. We're just waiting until the next group therapy session so that Jack gets time to settle in- even though he isn't going back- but that would have been the plan.
He smiles and sits down on the bed. He pats the space next to me. I glance outside and close the door. I walk over and sit down. He laughs and wraps his arms around me, leaning his head against my shoulder.
"I wish I could get out quicker, I want to spend time with you- without being a patient," he says and kisses my cheek.
"Alright, we have to get to the van to get to the psych hospital in time," I say and help him up. We walk upstairs and he waits at the front door. I make eye contact with Lisa who wiggles her eyebrows. She grabs my arm and drags me away from Jack.
"You two are in looooove," she teases.
"What?" I blink, my face feeling hot.
"I'm not an idiot. You two are allowed to be together now. Don't waste this time." She grins and playfully punches my shoulder. "Now go get him, loverboy."
I smile and rush off to him. He gives me a look. "Jack, we have to go- I mean- it's time to go- I mean-"
"Why are you acting so weird?" He raises an eyebrow. I shrug and grab his hand. He glances down at our hands and smiles.
We walk hand-in-hand to the car.
"Why is Tay loading a different car?" Jack asks, looking over at Tay.
"Uhh, safety- there's a lot of stuff that goes into a mini-hospital, so I'm driving you, now get into the passenger seat."
"Last time I was in the backseat though?" He tilts his head slightly.
"I'm technically breaking a rule, but as long as you don't tell," I shrug. He rolls his eyes and puts his stuff in the backseat before sitting in the passenger seat.
~~~
"Where are we?" Jack asks, looking out the window. "This isn't the hospital, Dr. Gaskarth." He looks back at me. I stop the car and unbuckle my seatbelt. He blinks in confusion.
I lean forward and press a kiss to his lips. He gasps once we pull away. I half expect him to look away, but he pulls the seatbelt off and cups my cheek. He moves over the cupholder area and straddles my thighs. He presses a hard kiss on my lips. I grip his hips and let out a sigh.
"Dr. Gaskarth-"
"Alex," I cut him off. He gives me a look. "Call me Alex."
"What are you saying?" He asks, sitting down on me. "Dr- I mean- Alex, what are you implying?"
"Jack, look outside," I whisper. He looks out and gasps. "I don't know is this situation would anger any spirits. I point between us, and that fact like he's literally on my lap.
"Alex, are we-" He looks back at me. "Are you letting me go- as a patient, I mean-"
I nod. "Go to her grave. It's the second thing you wanted to do."
"I want you to come with me," he says. He opens the door and slides off my lap. He grabs my hand and leads me to a tombstone.
He kneels down. "Alishia, this is Alex," he says softly. "He's been taking care of me. And... He's my boyfriend."
My heart melts at the sound of boyfriend.
"I went to a psych hospital to get better. The last time I was here... I was telling you I'd see you soon," he mumbles. "But I'm afraid I won't see you soon. I think I'm going to stay here for a while longer. I really like Alex."
I internally awww. I place my hand on his shoulder and he holds it. "Thank you for being there, but it's okay now. I know you're gone, and I'll accept that... And Alex is going to help me get through it. I love you, Alishia."
He stands up and pecks my cheek. "Let's go," I whisper. He nods and we walk to the car. He stops me before getting in and kisses me. He gently shoves me against the car and kisses my neck.
"J-Jack, is this offensive to be doing this here?" I mumble. "Not the whole gay thing, but the fact that we're making out."
"Probably not," he shrugs. We get into the car and I drive him to his place. "Can you come with me?" He asks. I nod and step out.
He grabs his bag and slings it over his shoulder. I smile and pick him up. He yelps and starts laughing as I bring him up to the door. He hands me the keys and I open the door. I walk in and look around. "Nice," I smile at him. I lay him on the couch and sit beside him.
He sits up and grabs my wrist. He drags me over to the bathroom and takes a deep breath. He opens a cabinet and pulls out a box of- oh. He stares down at the box of blades. "My third thing," he says softly.
I put my arm around him. "You can do it."
He nods and tosses it into the trash. He ties the bag and stands up. "Is it weird that it's difficult to do?"
I shake my head. "Quite normal, actually," I whisper. He nods and wraps his arms around me. "Jack, you did it," I mumble.
He smiles and presses a kiss to my lips. "Thank you."
The End.
