"Alex, you wanna grab lunch?" A feminine voice says, following a soft knock on the door. "There's a new place across the street," she says. Lisa.

I sigh and stand up to walk over to the door. "Hey, Lisa..." I mumble awkwardly. I guess we're friends. Okay, more like friendly acquaintances, but it's better than strangers that happen to work in the same building. She's a nurse here.

"Oh sorry, are you busy?" She asks, staring at my messy desk.

I blink and shove some papers into Jack's file. "No, I can spare lunch hour, let's go?" I ask softly. She nods and stands out the door. I grab my jacket and wallet and follow her to the elevator. To be honest, whatever we have will probably be better than the food here. I mean, it isn't bad, but after a year, it starts getting old.

The elevator stops at floor 6. Someone walks in and nods at us as a greeting. He pushes the fifth floor.

Why is he going to the patients' rooms?  I stare at him oddly, but he doesn't realize. The elevator stops and he gets out.

"FUCK YOU. GET OFF ME!" I hear a rather familiar voice scream. He sounds like he's in pain.

Something in me wants to ditch Lisa and run in and look for him, but I don't. Instead, I hit the close button and wait to get off.

"So it's a sandwich and soup place... I know how you really like the soup here, so I thought maybe you'd like a change of scenery," she says softly. "Tay says it's a pretty good place."

"Cool," I nod as we walk out. She leads me to a small restaurant. It's nice, pretty cozy. It has about ten other people eating, chatting.

"Hi," Lisa walks over to the counter. I follow behind her. "I'll take a veggie soup and ham sandwich," she says, reading off the menu. The man nods and types it in. She hands me the menu.

I stare at it for a moment. "I'll take a grilled cheese with tomato soup," I say quickly, wanting to go to a seat and stop talking to strangers.

He types it in and I pull out my wallet. Lisa pulls her's out, but I stop her. I hand the man thirty dollars and he gives me change. "You two can sit down and it'll be delivered to you," he says, handing me a box with the number seven written on it.

"Thank you," Lisa smiles as we sit down. A lady brings over a tray of food and sets it down. We both eat in silence. I don't know if this is awkward for her, but it is for me. I think it's because I'm used to being alone.

How sad.

I feel my phone buzzing, so I answer it. Lisa looks up. "Hello, this is Alex."

"Alex, get over here, Jack's freaking out," I hear Vinny's panicked voice over the phone. Lisa puts her spoon down.

"Okay, I'll be there in like ten minutes," I sigh, hanging up. "Lisa... It's a patient."

She nods understandingly. "Go. I'll pack this up for you," she sighs. I nod and hurry out of the restaurant.

I run back to the building and hit the fifth floor. I rush out and to the desk. "Here," I frantically pull out my badge. The lady nods and lets me in.

"Vinny?" I walk up to him, catching my breath. He turns around, beads of sweat on his forehead.

"Jack is under anesthesia. He was attacking people, and it just got really bad. You can go in," he opens the door. I walk in and see a nurse, leaning over Jack's body, which is laying on the ground.

"Are you his doctor?" She asks, turning around. I nod. "Good luck. He was refusing to take his meds and then started freaking out," she sighs. I glance at her arm, which is red, it looks like a handprint.
