Most of the people of today's generation are held captive by their own emotions. Some become slaves of what they feel, unknowingly dragging them down to darkness. Most believe that what they feel is right but they are deceived!
"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."
Galatians 6:7-8 (Esv)
When falling in love, people think that they already have the right person of their dreams. How can you even tell if someone's either right or worthy! How? The way he acts? A christian by faith? He believes in God? You've been with each others' companies for so long? Those are not enough to know if he's the person for you. People can act as kind and the best as they can. People can show you a worshipping side but the main purpose is not God himself. People can pretend they know God but don't apply the truth. Jesus were with his disciples for years but some denied and betrayed him. What more to you? A lot of people are in grievance and are regretful because of the person they think is the one. Remember brothers, you can't turn back the time! You can't undo your decisions. Love a person who loves God more than you.
True love can wait. It's unconditional. Just like how God loves us.
"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away."
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (Esv)
Love is not taken for granted. It is unconditional. It doesn't seek for any payback. Love accepts flaws. Love is genuine. Love draws you near to God and Love doesn't haul you to darkness.
That is why, understanding your season is quite important. Moreover, seeking for the will of God is indeed the most important above all. The will of the Lord doesn't hurt. It guides. You will know if a person is not the right one, if he is keeping you away from God.
Love a person who will worship God with you. Love a person who will uplift you through the Words of God.
You will know the will of God by delighting yourself upon His words. We should always be reminded of this passage:
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added upon you."
Matthew 6:33 (Esv)
In your decisions, consult God. If you feel like you have fallen in love to someone, start praying to God. He will surely reveal something. Pray that God will remove the uprooting feelings of yours if the person is not His will at all.
And may I just remind you, that what our heart feels is usually deceitful. It is a war of choosing between your will or God's will. Remember, that what you choose has an implication in the nearby future of yours.
The war will never end when you keep on choosing your will over God's.
