*Liam’s POV*

I was curled up on the couch with Danielle in front of me, I could barely keep my eyes open. She was watching her favorite movie but it kept losing signal because of the rain. Just as my eyes were about to shut, the phone rang. “You stay here, I’ll get it.” I said as I rubbed my eyes. She pushed me out of the screen and shushed me. I answered it and on the other line was a man. “Are you Liam?” He asked me. “Yeah, can I help you?” I asked confused. “Do you know a Damaris?” He asked me. My ehart started to race. “Yes, I do. Why?” I asked concerned. “She’s been in a car accident and she is in horrible condition.” He said. Tears welled up in my eyes. So many emotions rushed through me at once. “I’m coming.” I said before hanging up and searching for my keys. “Where are you going?” Danielle asked popping up from the couch.“Damaris was in an accident. I have to go.” I said still searching for my keys. Danielle got up and grabbed her jacket. “I’m coming.” She said while throwing on her jacket and a pair of slippers. I found the keys and we were off. I got to hospital soaking wet. My sunroof in the car was broken so a bunch of rain fell on me. I ran in yelling. “Where’s Damris?” I yelled. I was freaking out. “Sir, sir, you have to sit. I’ll find her for you.” A nurse said to me. Danielle grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the seats and tried to soothe me. She started to call everyone. 15 minutes later they all walked in.“What happened?” Kristi said running in, her eyes were watery. She was searching through the crowd of people for my face. I stood up and she ran over and hugged me. She started to sob in my shirt. Aliyah was holding back the tears and Melissa was with her, but she let one run down her red cheek. Niall rubbed her back trying to soothe her. Amber wasn’t crying but you could just see the fear in her face. Lou was just staring at the ground next to Kristi who was next to me, crying her eyes out. Zayn was almost across the room, just pacing. Harry was silent, besides a few sniffles here and there. We were all waiting for the doctor. Sitting patiently. My heart was racing. I just wanted to know what happened, but no one would tell me. I got up and went searching for the nurse who told me to sit down. I found her and tapped her shoulder. “Do you know what happened to her?” I asked. The nurses face dimmed. “She was in a horrible car accident with another woman. We think the one girl was drunk, the one who hit your friend. She is in serious condition and doctors are working on her. You need to sit. We will tell you what happens.” The nurse said. I walked back to the seat and sat for another 30 minutes. (I suggest you start listening to moments right now)Then a doctor finally walked out, he didn’t look happy. I sat up in hope, just hoping. “I’m sorry.” Just with those words, I broke down and cried. “You can go say your goodbyes. I’ll take you there.” The doctor said. Kristi was on the floor, crying, no, she was sobbing. Louis helped her up and held her close. Everyone was crying. Everyone was completely broken. It felt like 12 miles to her room. We walked up to room 218 and he stopped. He opened the door and in front of me was the girl I had known my whole life. I known her as the bright, happy one that was full of life. Now she was in front of me, as pale as a ghost, with a frown on her face, and lifeless. Her hair was out and a mess and she had cuts all over and bruises. There was a giant scar on her leg. “Could we please have a few at a time.” The doctor said. We all walked out and Kristi, Melissa, and Aliyah walked in. You could hear their sobs but not their stories. They were in there for five minutes and they walked out. No one else wanted to go but me. I walked in and sat next to my bestfriend. “Hi Damaris.” I said with a quivering lip. I grabbed her hand. It was cold and limp. “I know you can’t hear me but I-I just want you to know that you are my bestfriend. I choose you over everyone. Everyone in the world. I can’t replace you. I am going to know you as that little 6th grade girl who had no one to sit with at lunch because she was brand new. The one that couldn’t jump rope for her life and who was constantly watching little kids. The one who was obsessed with Nutella and went all out for Halloween. The one that I loved. I don’t hate you. I love you Damaris. Ever since we were 12. I always knew you were special. You could light up a room with that big smile. God, I want to see that smile right now. I’m gonna miss it. I’ve seen that smile almost everyday, I don’t know how I’ll live without it. Even when you were crying, I would always have to find a way to see that smile. God, I  have so many memories with you. Like how we would watch Lion King and we would sing at the top of our lungs. Oh man, what song was that? Oh yeah, ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ by Elton John. That was the song we danced to in your yard when you were stood up. That guy was a douche bag, and he missed out. You looked beautiful that night. I remember you sitting out on the porch in your big dress and you were crying. But when I walked over you smiled that beautiful smile and we danced, we danced for what seemed like forever. You know, I was gonna kiss you that night but I chickened out. I wanted to go out with you but I was such a wuss. That night I thought to myself, ‘Man, I have to marry this girl.’ I was so determined but then I thought you only saw me as a bestfriend so I gave up and got a girlfriend. I’ve always loved you, and I always will.” I said. In a time of sadness I found myself smiling, and happy. I’ll always have those memories. Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. “Oh, I almost forgot. I have something for you.” I pulled out my wallet and took out this cheap ring that had the words bestfriend across it. “You gave this to me in 7th grade. You lost it the next year when you were in gym class but I kept mine. After all these years, I kept it. I wanna give it to you.” I said. I slid it on to her stubby little finger. “I love you Damaris.” I kissed her cold forehead and wiped my eyes. I walked out of the room into Danielle’s arms. She hugged me and said something muffled into my neck. “But who even got in a car accident with her?” Kristi said.“They said a drunk.” I said. “I’m gonna go find out.” Zayn said leaving to go find a nurse. “We’ll all wait here. All of us.” Kristi said looking over at Aliyah. “Fine.” Aliyah mumbled. It’s weird, I thought Aliyah would be friends with Zayn. I mean she broke up with him, I think.
