Anne's POV:
As i sat on the velvet seat of the car, i could hear the sounds of people cheering and muttering from outside. Our three cars honked loudly, clearing a path towards the boat in between the crowds of what mother calls "commoners".
I could see them attempt to peer in through the windows as our cars pulled past them before finally cruising to a halt.
As the door of my car was swung open by the driver, i was shocked at the sight of how many people had turned up. There must have been thousands. They all stood their waving and smiling as they watched their loved ones board the boat.
I stepped out uncomfortably, my coat was awfully tight. It was long and white with purple stripes that streaked from shoulder to ankle, adorned with golden buttons. I also had a matching sunhat and tie. Billy had insisted we go on a shopping trip before we left for America- much too mother's delight.
I glanced up from under my sunhat at the famous titanic. I wasn't that impressed.
Charlie, Billy's valet, helped mother out of the vehicle behind me, both looked in awe of the vessel.
Billy's authoritative hand rested on my shoulder and i turned around to see even he was in awe of the ship.I gripped my sun umbrella nervously in my hands as i faced him.
"I don't see what all the fuss is about, it doesn't look any bigger then the Mauritania." I mused in confusion.
The mauritania was large and grand, this seemed to be no different. Why was everyone so enthusiastic about this one?He chuckled, "You can be bláse about some things Anne, but not about Titanic! It's over a hundred feet longer and far more luxurious."
That didn't matter to me, I didn't care for it any more then i cared for any of the other ships i had been forced onto.
Looking up, I perceived how the cars were being lifted onto the ship using great large mechanics, it was quite intriguing to watch. Not that i would tell anyone that.I turned back to hear Billy mutter to my mother who was now standing beside us.
"Your daughters far too difficult to impress Marilla." He said as she giggled lightly.Walking towards the boat, i could see she was taking in all the details. She wanted to ensure it was perfection, classic mother.
"So this is the ship they say is unsinkable." She hummed as her eyes scoured about the vessel in interest. A small smile tugged at her lips, showing she was at least content with it.
"It is unsinkable, not even god can sink it." Billy boasted as he tapped his cane along the floor.
I could hear him giving orders to place our luggage in 'parlour suites 52,54 and 56'. The most expensive suites of course. Only the best for Billy and mothers tastes, I attempted not to roll my eyes.
Billy glanced briefly at his pocket watch before walking towards us.
"Ladies, we better hurry, come on." He nudged us into the direction of the ships boarding area and we walked that way- like we had any other choice.
