"You little Bitch!!" My step father screamed slamming me into the counter. he smelt like drugs. drugs and alcohol. blood was trickling down from my temple and my vision was going blurry. "you deserve to die you little.." he was cut off by my older sister kylie storming into the house and shoving him off me. "come on Lilia we're leaving" she said scooping my limp body off the ground and glaring at our mother, "don't come looking for us Sara," she snapped, "you may have been the woman that gave birth to us but you are no longer to call yourself our mum." then she stormed out of the house carrying me like a baby, cradling my head.
In the car, Kylie kept talking to me trying to keep me conscious through the pain. "come on bub I know it hurts but you have to keep going yeah. we're nearly there." I tried to nod but cried out in pain instead. when we stopped I tried to see where we were but kylie tutted and scooped my body out of the car. "bub we're at the hospital." she whispered knowing my reaction. I started shaking in her arms, tears rolled down my cheeks, "No, you know I cant Ky." I mumbled desperately trying to pull away.
Kylie carried me into the ER anyway ignoring my protests and smiled at the nurse behind the counter, "hello ma'am," the nurse said glancing at where I was shaking and thrashing in kylies grip, "hello, My name is Kylie, This is my sister Lilia Flint." my sister replied
"And what is your date of birth Lilia?" the nurse asked opening a file on the computer
"21st July 2003." Kylie replied since I refused to talk
"And what is your home address Lilia?"
"21 church street Hornsby." Again Kylie replied
"Okay and What are your parents names Lilia?" the nurse looked up from the screen
"Sara Daniels and her Father is dead but her step father is Simon Daniels." kylie replied stroking my blood crusted cheek
"Where do you go to school Lilia?" the nurse asked frowning slightly at the last question
"Norwest Christian College." I replied at last
the nurse nodded then asked, "And why are you here today?"
"Her stepfather pushed her into the kitchen counter." Kylie replied, I glared at her
"Is she bleeding?" the nurse asked her face a picture of concern
"Yes."
"Where on her body?"
"Her temple and cheek." kylie replied, I sighed since I knew Kylie wasn't going to keep quite about my home life anymore
"Okay and Lilia has this happened before?" the nurse asked turning her kind, concerned gaze to me and that's when I lost it. my chest got really tight and breathing became harder Kylie set me down on the ground as I curled up into a ball pressing my chest into my bony knees and wrapped my arms around myself. tears ran down my cheeks and my breaths came out in pants.
suddenly I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me and pull my arms away from around myself, "Breathe Lilia, Breathe." a warm voice commanded. I looked up only to have my gaze be met with a warm Hazel one. It was my best friend Charlie. I followed Charlie's breathing pattern and slowly my chest got looser and looser. eventually I could breathe normally, Charlie wrapped me up in a warm hug and waited until my tears had stopped before letting me go. Kylie smiled at me and mouthed, "one day at a time bub." I nodded wiping my cheeks and smiled at the boy who had saved me. "Thank you." I said hugging him again. "Its okay Lilia."A nurse called out, " Lilia Flint."
"come on Bubba we've got to go, you can talk to Charlie later." Kylie said bending down to take my hand and pull me off the floor I complied. Charlie stood up and pulled me into one more hug, "I love you Lil." he whispered in my ear before releasing me.
Kylie and I walked into the Nurses office gripping each other's hands. "hello Lilia, my name is Calum and I'll be your Doctor today." A young man with dark hair said smiling at me softly, I smiled back and let go of Kylie's hand. "I'm going to need you to lie down is that okay Lilia." Calum asked gesturing to the hospital bed. I lay down on the bed and Calum started prodding my head very gently, "I need you to tell me if this hurts okay Lilia." he said gently whilst tenderly pressing down on my temple I flinched away as his fingers pushed down on a tender spot. "okay Lilia I'm going to have put you through for an X-ray. Wait here whilst I go talk to the radiographers." Calum said standing up and walking down the corridor. "Bub, you're doing great but you're going to have to talk to social services." Kylie cautioned leaning forward in the chair by my bed. I sighed but nodded knowing that I had to get away from Simon and Mum. Kylie grinned in relief obviously having expected me to protest.
2 hours later...
Kylie and I stared at the tiny grain of grey on the image in front of us on the screen, "well Lilia it would appear that you are pregnant." Calum stated looking slightly amused but mainly shocked. Kylie was starting to get angry but mainly I knew she wanted to protect me. And I was scared but I felt happy, I was going to love this baby like Kylie had loved me and this baby was going to know that its mummy loved it so much. "who's the father Lil?" Kylie asked pointing at the screen her face a mask of icy fury.
"Simon."
"WHAT!!" Kylie screamed causing the nurses, doctors and patients milling around us to freeze and turn in our direction.
"Yeah about a month ago he.. he raped me Ky." I mumbled wrapping my arms around my stomach and looking at the floor blinking back tears.
"okay now there is no way I'm letting you go back to those people." was my sisters reply.
