3 days until birthday:
"Y/n! Three days until you turn the big 18!" My best friend, Hyjin, squealed. I sighed, closing my locker.
"You're more excited than me and it's my birthday."
"Oh hush." She slaps my arm gently. "Its concerning that you're not jumping off the walls right now. What's not to get excited about turning 18?"
I turned and gave her a knowing look. There's a lot to not look forward to turning this "special" age.
She looked down, defeated. "I know you're worried about these tests that we have to go through, but trust me!" She looked back up, hope lacing her doe eyes. "It's not as bad as people say it is. When I turned 18, my test was so easy."
I shook my head. "That's because you're afraid of dolphins. There are people out there with much more realistic fears. Take me for example, I'm horrified of heights."
She crossed her arms. "That's nothing. And dolphins are definitely a realistic fear, just not for you."
"Exactly!" I snapped my fingers. "Just because you're not afraid of heights, doesn't mean it's not going to affect me when I go through this trial. That's my fear. You didn't have to go through it, therefore you don't have a right to say I shouldn't be scared."
She sighed as the bell rang, signaling that class is about to begin. "I'll catch you later." I say as I adjusted my backpack to fit on my shoulders comfortably. She waved as I ran off to my first class, English.
Walking into the room, I scrunched my nose. It smelt putrid.
"What is that awful smell?" I waft the stench away from my face.
"You can thank Jungkook for that." My classmate Yoongi stated, looking bored out of his mind. "It was his idiotic self that decided to jump into a pond before class started."
I turned my gaze to Jungkook, who looked smug.
"Hey Y/n!" He stood up and opened his arms. "Come give me a hug."
I made a gagging motion. "In your dreams, Jeon. Nobody in their right mind would even talk to you right now."
He smirked. "But you're talking to me aren't you?"
I shrugged. "I never said anything about me being in the right state of mind."
His smirk fell, concern now evident on his pretty features. He clearly wasn't expecting me to say that.
I walk over and sit next to him. He stared at me for a bit, trying to read my expression, then he sat back down.
"What's wrong?" He faced me, leaning forward slightly.
I sigh, giving him the best smile I could manage. "I'm just worried about the test, that's all."
He stared at me, confused. Then he started to panic. "Oh my goodness! We have a test this class?" He looked frantic.
I laughed. "No you idiot! I turn 18 in 3 days."
He calmed down, clearly relieved. "Oh, that's what you're worried about? Y/n, you'll be okay I promise."
I bit my lip. "There's a 73% chance that I'll survive. That means theres a whole 27% that could lead to me dying."
He scooted his desk closer. "But it's not likely. Try not to think about it for now okay?"
I stared at my desk. This whole "take a test when you turn 18 to determine whether you live or not" is seriously taking a toll on me.
A warm hand taking mine knocked me back to my senses. I turned, meeting Jungkook's gentle gaze. His eyes were full of pure belief. "You'll get through it Y/n. I know you're strong enough to handle it."
