 3 days before birthday:

The bell rang again, signaling the end to Chemistry. Jungkook, who was half asleep, shot up and grinned.

"I thought this class was never gonna end!" He immediately started packing up.

I chuckled at his eagerness to leave and turned to Hoseok, who looked like he was lost in thought.

"Hey, earth to Hoseok!" I snapped my fingers in front of his face. He shook his head, startled.

"Huh? Oh, is something wrong?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, with you perhaps. What were you thinking about?" I crossed one leg over the other and placed my face in the palm of my hand, my elbow resting on the desk.

He sighed. "It's kinda dumb..." I shook my head.

"I'm sure its not."

"Well.." He hesitated. "I'm turning 18 soon an-"

I gasped. "No way, me too!"

He smiled. "Really? When's your birthday?"

I frowned. "February 18th."

His jaw dropped. "That's mine too!"

We just stared at each other with our mouths open. Jungkook looked at us disgusted and rolled his eyes.

"If you guys are done flirting, I'd like to get to lunch."

I turned and glared at him. "He's my birthday twin, can't you get your head out of your arse for once and let me have other friends?"

He looked frustrated again, clearly not enjoying my remark.

"Drop that attitude of yours and we'll see." He scoffed.

I stood up, completely ignoring Hoseok's fearful face.

"I wouldn't have an attitude if you weren't so complicated and let me have guy friends." I clenched my teeth.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. "Look-"

"Well would you look at the time? We have 20 minutes until lunch ends so I'm going to head out and get some food. Care to join?" Hoseok suddenly interrupted.

Now that I think about it, I'm starving. I smiled slightly at him and waved my hands for him to go on. "We'll catch up in a bit."

He nodded his head and walked off. I waited until he was out of the room before turning to Jungkook.

"Look Jungkook, I get that you don't like it when I have other guys around me, its just-"

"You like him more? Yeah, I figured." He tried to walk away, but I grabbed his wrist.

"Can you let me finish? I was saying that since he's new and all, he doesn't really have friends and I don't like seeing lonely people." I gave him a half smile.

He fully turns back around and takes my hand, massaging it gently as he stares at it in guilt.

"I'm sorry Y/n. I know I shouldn't be so...protective over you. You're your own person and you can make your own choices." He bit his lip.

"It's just..." He sighs, trying to find the right words. I smile at him, letting him fumble around for a bit. "Its just that I really like you. I always have." He takes my other hand. "And when I see you smiling all happy with other guys, it makes me feel insecure."

I give him a sheepish grin and squeeze his hands. "Hey, you shouldn't feel that way when I talk to other guys. If I wasn't interested in you, you'd be able to tell."

He looks me in the eyes. "I know, but I can't help it. And it's so early into..." He let's go of my hands and makes a gesture back and forth between us. "...whatever this is, so I really shouldn't stop you from speaking to other guys. You're not mine, so I can't prevent you from talking to people."

My smile grows and I caress his cheek. "Its not as early as you think. We've been talking for over 2 months now, and we've been making progress."

He grins shyly, a blush creeping onto his cheeks. "That's very true. And I'm glad I'm making that progress with you."

I slap his chest gently, smiling and becoming flustered. "Oh stop, you sound like you're in love with me."

He shrugged. "You never know."

We both just stand there, gazing into each others eyes. One of my hands was in his, while the other was placed on his chest.

He leans in and places his forehead on mine, not breaking eye contact.

"Y/n?" He whispers.

I close my eyes, anticipating a certain something. "Yeah?"

He places a soft kiss on the corner of my mouth, and then the tip of my nose.

"Let's go, Hoseok is probably waiting for us." He lets my hand go and walks away, glancing back at me with a smirk on his face.

I was so flustered and he knew it. I smile and walk over to him, holding out my hand.

He grins and takes it, entwining our fingers. He starts to walk towards the cafeteria, taking short strides to match mine.

This day couldn't get any better.
