"Have you seen Kobie? He wasn't in my first or my second." I say as I sit my lunch tray on the table. Allison looks up from her phone, holding a piece of carrot in her mouth, and shakes her head.
"No, why does it matter? Isn't he one of the assholes that bullies you?"
"It's not like that Allison." I say as I sit down.
Allison looks at me for a second as she continues to eat the rest of her carrot. I feel a shiver run down my spine at the thought of her finding out about Kobie and I. Or rather what used to be Kobie and I. Even though Julian recorded us in the stairwell no one has found out, or even said anything, which makes me even more scared. Did Kobie really threaten him that badly that Julian didn't even say a word?
"Okay. Well I haven't seen him today, maybe he's sick or something." She says as she begins to eat another piece of carrot. William walks up from behind her and places his tray next to hers and leans over to kiss her. I look down at my meal and begin pushing my peas with my plastic fork.
The thought of Kobie being public floods my mind, and a bit of anger and sorrow follow soon after. Why is it that two guys have to hide the fact that they can kiss but a boy and girl don't. Why is it that gays couples have to live in fear about being discovered or hated. Why is it that only gay people come out and have a mental trial if they can stay with or leave their parents. Straight people can kiss in public, and sometimes even fuck in public and no one cares, but once it comes to two men kissing the world does nothing but hate and criticize. Granted, now that more and more people are accepting homosexuality, there might be a chance to having a normal, judge less life with another man.
"So you excited for the party tonight?" William asks as he picks up his sandwich and takes a large bite out of it.
"Yeah," I say thinking about Kobie again. "Maybe something crazy will happen. Allison and him give me a look before we all continue to eat our lunch before the bell rings.

Williams car pulls into the driveway followed by a honk, which causes me to run my hands through my hair one last time to try to fix it. I walk up to my mirror and look at myself. I stand with a pair of ripped jeans and a white shirt with a purple plaid shirt on top with the sleeves rolled up to my elbows. I take a breath and begin my way down stairs where my mother sits on the couch drinking a cup of what looks like coffee. She smiles at me, and goes back to watching whatever is on T.V. I walk out to the car and climb into the back seat behind William. Allison turns around and smiles as she hands me a bottle of Smirnoff.
"Drink some Josh! William and I thought it would be fun to drink a little before we get to the party."
I take a swig, and pass it back to Allison who takes a swig. I look from Allison to William, then back at Allison who finishes taking a drink and puts the bottle down.
"Oh no! William is not going to drink until we get to the place." She says as she looks over at William, who begins to back out of the driveway, and drives down the street.
"So, do you guys know where the party is?" I ask as I move to the center seat. Suddenly my heel hits something cold on the floor and the sound of glass falling over. I jump a little as I look down and see bottles rolling all over the floor. I pull out my phone and turn on the light and look at the bootles. Several bottles of Smirnoff lie on the floor alongside a couple cases of beer. "Where did you get this from?"
"We got the alcohol is from Williams cousin," Allison says.
"And I got the address from one of the wrestlers I have in History," William says.
Allison takes another swig from the Smirnoff before she hands it back to me, and I do the same.
"Did the wrestler say who all is going?" I say as I slowly pushing a bottle away from me. I know Kobie will be there, and I know he will bring Audrey. I idea of Audrey draped over Kobie like curtain makes me want to run out of the party, and run away from Maple Hills.
"Well, he said everyone is going." William says.
"Yeah, all the wrestlers, all the cheerleaders, anyone who shows up to the party honestly." Allison says as she takes the bottle from my hand.
William stops at a red light and looks at me through the rearview mirror. "Josh are you okay?"
Allison turns around in the middle of a swig and looks at me for a second. "Josh, you look nervous."
"Oh I, er, I'm just nervous about seeing T.J. or Jimmy at the party and them trying to do something."
Allison continues to look at me for a second as she hands me a bottle again. I take the bottle and take a large swig from the bottle until I finish the bottle. Allison smiles and reaches down and grabs another bottle from the floor and opens it with a pop. The light turns green and Allison grabs the empty bottle as William begins to drive, and throws it out the open window. She lets out a laugh as the bottle shatters in the background.
I turn and look out at the dark scenery that passes by in a haze. Allison and Williams seems to not see through my life. Granted it was not a lie. I am scared of T.J. and Jimmy, but I am more scared of what Audrey could do. I know she hates me or at least dislikes me. The rumors of Kobie being gay obviously did not faze her or even bother her, because she knows that she controls him. Kobie is a top wrestler, but as far as I know, he bends in when anything happens. When Julian caught us, he did threatened Julian, but he also folded in and got a girlfriend and hid away from the fact that he might be gay, or at least likes guys.
Suddenly, after thinking about Audrey for a while, the scenery of the cities die down, and is replaced by tall trees and large houses. Lamp posts line the streets and trees line the sidewalks. Tall bushes separate the large front yards. William and Allison start to look around at the houses but stop looking the minute they see a large house with lights and balloons and several cars parked in the parking lot and down the streets. We slow down the car as we watch several groups of teenagers walk into the house with cases of beers and liquors. Laughs and giggles fill the air and a few girls scream when the door opens and they are greeted by their friends.
William turns to Allison and smiles as she chugs the rest of the bottle of Smirnoff and turns around and grabs another bottle and hands it to William who grabs it after finding a spot to park behind a large grey jeep. Jimmy's large grey jeep.
William opens the bottle and chugs almost half of the bottle before he gives it to me where he and Allison turn to look at me for a second, letting me know that they want me to finish the bottle. I let out a breath before I put the bottle to my lips and the taste of orange juice and a slight taste of vodka. I lift the bottle until the last drop of Smirnoff lands on my tongue. Allison shrieks and climbs out of the car, and William and I follow.
The three of us slowly walk up to the large house that seems to over power us. More groups of teenagers walk into the door while William, Allison and I stand at the beginning of the long curving driveway. Music pounds through the open windows and door that constantly opens. Screams and shouts and chants echo through the walls. Balloons hang off of the mailbox and off the four lamp posts that line the sidewalk.
Allison turns and looks at us before she runs over to the door and bangs on the door with William and I follow behind. We catch up behind her just as a tall girl with bark skin and short wavy hair answers the door. She laughs at something behind her before she turns around and her smile drops. She looks at us before she finally lands her look at me, and then I suddenly remember she is one of Audreys friends. She lets out a sigh and steps to the side and lets us slowly walk in before she closes behind us, trapping us in the packed house of teenagers who are half drunk. Suddenly I feel like tonight will be regrettable.
