Three Months Later

I sit on the couch watching what looks like a James Bond movie, but not quite. The guy is British and the movie is quite corny. Allison told me the movie was called Austin Powers, and as part as I know, it's a parody of the James Bond franchise. Allison laughs as the bald man with his miniature sidekick comes out and William shushes her.

"I can't help it," she says. "I love Mini Me."

William rolls his eyes and turns around. "You want something to eat? I'm hungry."

"Yeah I could use something to eat!" Kobie says as he jumps off the couch. "Evans and I can go pick up something to eat and bring it back."

"Oh my God! Yes!" Allison says. "Could you get me a milkshake."

"Oh me too!" William says.

Kobie looks down at me and smiles, and for a second I could have sworn I saw a sparkle of light in his eyes. He reaches his hand out and I grab it, causing his to lift me up before he kisses me on the forehead.

"We can take my car, let me just get my jacket." He says.

I watch as he runs up the stairs to my room and runs down with his purple jacket from Valley High Academy. He pulls it over his head to show a little minor man in a wrestling unitard, and the name Hartman on the left side of the chest. He turns around and his last name is on the back too.

"It's weird to know you got expelled from Maple Hills only to go to Valley High and become the top wrestler there too," Allison says.

"Yeah but the look on TJ and Jimmy's face when they have to go against Kobie is priceless!" William says.

Kobie smiles as he looks down at his jacket that seems to tightly hug his chest, or that he has been working out more than he did at Maple Hills. He looks up and smiles at me before he winks at me, causing me to blush and look away to hide the smile.

"You ready to go?" Kobie asks just as I hear my mothers high heel shoes tap down the stairs. She appears wearing a thin blue and white dress with blue high heels and a white hand back. She has a pair of dangling earrings and her hair is curled.

"Where do you two think you're going?" She asks as she places her hands on her waist.

"Kobie and I were going to go get some food. Where are you going?"

She smiles and looks at her dress then back up at the four of us. "Oh Joshua you remember that nice man I meet at one of the showings. Robert. Well him and I are going on another date!"

"How many dates have you gone on?" Allison asks with dreamy eyes.

"This will be the fourth. And he still insists on picking me up. Honestly I have a really good feeling about this guy." She says as she turns and looks at me with a large smile. "I'm serious Josh. I have a really good feeling about him. I think he might even ask me out."

"That good!" Kobie says stepping in front of me.

My mother looks at me for another second and I smile. "That's good Mom, I hope it goes really good. Have fun."

She smiles again and walks over and hugs me.

"Joshua," She whispers in my ear, "You are the only man I need in my life." She pulls away and kisses me on the forehead. "I love you."

"I love you too Mom," I say just as a knock comes from the door. My mother races over and opens the door to reveal a tall man in a white dress shirt, black slacks and a black tie. He holds a bouquet of what looks like roses and hands them to my mother who smiles. She grabs them and looks back at me and blows me a kiss before she walks out of the door and closes it behind her.

"That was weird," William says.

"Yeah but I hope it goes really good for you Mom," Allison says. "She has been through so much. She deserves to be happy."

"Yeah. She does." I say. I turn to Kobie who smiles at me and grab my hand before we walk out of the door and towards his blue Mustang. I walk over to the passenger side and stop.

"Hey do you remember what you asked me when we were on Cliff Side?" I say.

Kobie stands for a second, thinking about it as he unlocks the car and climbs in. I follow after and as I shut my door he turns towards me.

"When I asked what it would be like to be happy?"

"Yeah."

"What about it?" He asks.

I lean in and kiss him. His lips warm and soft to the touch and he grabs my cheek and kisses me back. His thumb moves in circles on my cheek as I reach over and grab the side of his chest. He then pulls away and holds my head by my chin.

"This is what it's like."
