After Angelo drove me home, I spent the entire night avoiding my dad and trying to call my mom.
She never answered any of my calls but that didn't stop me from trying.
The next morning, I woke up to laughter ringing in my ears.
I rubbed the crust from my eyes, stretched my aching legs which forced out of bed.
Suddenly, there was a knock on my bedroom door.
I wasn't in the mood for my dad so I just ignored it.
I checked my phone for any missed calls from my mom when I was greeted by the mysterious blonde from last night.
She opened my door and cleared her throat.
''Hi, can we talk?'' She asked nervously.
I fell back onto my bed and groaned.
''I will take that as a yes.'' She said regardless.
She sat down across from me on my desk chair.
She looked nervous; I could see that she didn't know where to start.
''Your father is a persuasive man.''
I sat up and looked her in the eyes.
''Who are you?'' I asked, ignoring her small-talk.
She shifted on my desk chair.
''Victoria. My name is Victoria''
I sat on the edge of my bed.
''Tell me. Tell me why are you here? What are you doing here? Just tell me everything.'' I demanded.
I noticed that she automatically felt uncomfortable, she quickly changed her demeanor.
She didn't want me to know what she felt on the inside, this woman knew how to play people. I could just tell.
''Your dad and I met at a work conference. I was catering the event and we immediately clicked. I own the restaurant that we ate at the other night.''
She paused, waiting for me to say something. When she realized that I wasn't planning on speaking she kept talking.
''After that, we kept in contact, when your parents got separated, we started seeing each other on a more personal level.
He would come to visit me in between traveling and I would spend a weekend at The Ritz Hotel in Dallas.
He called me a while ago to tell me he asked for a transfer so that we could be together.
I told him that I should meet you one-on-one before he just blows the news all at once, of course, him being the stubborn man that he is, refused.
You moved here with your mom, she insisted on staying with you until your dad got into town.
I didn't want you to feel overwhelmed and left out, sweetie.''
I couldn't tell if she was being sincere or not, her story is convincing and I knew if I wanted to know the truth about all of this I had to play the game.
''Why are you talking to me? Shouldn't this be something that my dad needs to tell me?''
She moved my desk chair closer to me.
''Yes, it should be. I think we both know him well enough to know that he would rather play this off as a normal situation.
The truth is, this isn't a normal situation.
If it were up to me, this wouldn't be rushed the way it is.
I love your dad; he gave me a fresh start and I am not letting it slip out of my hands.''
