Chapter 1- Hello family drama!

I stepped out of my car, a blue Toyota Corolla, gifted to me by my parents when I moved out. I pulled the sunglasses away from eyes and placed them on my head as I looked around.

My parents house looked just the same, the perfectly mowed lawn, my mom's beautiful herb and flower garden and our little tree house which definitely needed some work done or else in the next rain it was going to come down. Although me and my brother didn't use it now, my parents wanted to keep it for their grandchildren.

No objections there, if I had time on my hands right now I would definitely go up there and read some books lying down. That's how I spent most of my childhood. That tree house just held too many memories of mine.

As I walked down our cobbled walkway I could hear the bustling from my home. My mom's voice, the most prominent one. Oh how I've missed her. It's been four months since I was out of town for work and I'm so excited to be back home. My family seems to be the same as I guess from the noises inside.

I ring the bell and seconds later it opens and I'm engulfed in a hug by my petite mom. She's cute as a button and gives the best hugs. Then next my dad and my brother follow. My brother being the pain in the ass he is pulls my hair and I pull his back and before this could turn into a full blown WWE match my mom stops us and tells me that my grandma is home and is sitting in the living room waiting for me. I go to the living room and see my grandma and immediately engulf her in a bear hug.

How I've missed this crazy family!

"So, how was New York?" my mom asked while checking on all the delicious food she had made for me.

"It was fine I guess. Didn't have much time to roam around because of work and also it was almost always raining whenever I was free" I said while placing five plates on the dining table.

"Avani dear, take out three more plates. I invited Amelia, Chloe and her husband as well" my mom said.

Amelia was my sister from another mother aka my mom's best friend. We've been best friends since we could walk and talk. Our moms were best friends, we are best friends and so will our kids be. And Chloe is my cousin who got married last year and for some reason she wants me to get married as soon as possible as well. I don't get why. Like I'm just 27 years old and yet to fall madly in love with a real person. Falling in love with every other fictional character that I read or watch in series doesn't count. The list is too long.

"Mom, inviting Amy is fine but why Chloe? You know she wouldn't stop bothering me about getting married like what is the fuss. Why does she want me get married? She got married, isn't she happy with that. Why does she need me to get married soon as well? I'll get married when I want to, when I find someone with whom I can share my entire life with."

"You know I didn't actually invite her, she kinda invited herself when I mentioned that you were coming back today." she explained.

Just then our doorbell rang along with Amy chanting "Av, Av" outside.

Av is short for Avani and also because it kinda rhymes with Amy.

I make my way towards the door and as soon as I open it, the next second Amy is jumping over me causing us both to fall down.

Yay Amy! Thanks for adding more pain to the already aching back and legs. Sometimes I just feel like an 80 year old lady rather than a 27 year old girl with all the body pain that I suffer from.

"Yeah, yeah I missed you too but a little less animalistic version of you" I said as I tried to push her from over me.

But Amy being Amy hugged me even more tightly that my attempts at pushing her failed miserably.
