Chapter 2 : The 16th moon .

As the alarm rings on my bedside table , I quickly hit the off button and smile . Its my 16th birthday ! I have turned 16 ! I'm not a girl , not yet a woman ( quoting the pop princess Britney Spears , I mean why not ! I know Ariana Grande's has taken the title but Britney is legendary and she always will be ! ) .

I jumped out of bed and hit the shower and getting ready to school . When I walk down the stairs , I heard dad saying , "Good morning birthday girl ! Mum made you birthday pancakes" . I could smell the aroma of maple syrup and berries , " Wow , mum ! Thank you , you're too sweet" , I said while sitting down at the table and enjoying my birthday breakfast . " Not as sweet as being 16" , my dad said . He is so excited right now that everything he says now seems cheesy , and I love him for that . "So do you have any plans today with Gina and Rachel ?" , my mum asked . "Nothing much though , just hanging out and maybe going to the bowling alley tonight" , I answered . "Do you want a birthday party princess ?" , my dad asked while making gun poses with his hand and pointing at me . " A party ? Nah , cause the only ones coming are still gonna be Gina and Rachel and their parents" , I said . "How about your classmates ? Your school friends ?" , my mum asked out of curiosity cause aren't young people should have a lot of friends and hang together in groups ? " I don't think so mum , I do not seem to click with the other kids" . " Cause you are different babe , out of the ordinary" , my dad winked at me . " Greg ! Watch what you're saying !" , my mum just suddenly screamed . "Mum , its okay , that doesn't bother me , its okay to be out of the ordinary sometimes , its not like I'm a werewolf or anything" , I said while putting these delicious pancakes in my mouth . My parents looked at each other like they are doing telepathy cause they are doing different facial expressions , my parents are so cute . 

"So , I'm heading out now , I'll see you guys later" , I said while kissing both of them on their cheeks . "Be back by nine please Karenina" , my mum said . "Nine ? That's kinda early don't you think mum , on my birthday ?" , I said . "Well , we want to celebrate your birthday too darling , right Greg ?" , my mum looking furiously at dad , somehow . My dad nodded and I said , " okay , if you say so . Love you guys ! Bye !" , as I close the door , I hear my mum said , "we need to get everything ready" .Judging from my parents certainty about tonight , this is going to be hell of a surprise .
