"Hey, you know what I'd like to know?" Finn calls out in a loud voice. After being frightened by the deer, they kept going in silence to let the event sink in. They all are shocked still, which is reasonable. "Why send us down today after ninety seven years? What changed?"
"Who cares? I'm just glad they did," Octavia cheerfully replies. She swings around a tree as a little child would, but it's in attempt to get Finn's attention. "I woke up rotting in a cell, and now I'm spinning in a forest." She frowns when Finn passes without a glance her way.
"Maybe they found something with the satellite. You know, like an old weather satellite or—" Monty begins to guess, only to be cut off by the blonde behind them.
"It wasn't a satellite. The Ark is dying. At the current population level, there's roughly three months left of life support, maybe four now that we're gone."
The Collins furrows his eyebrows, matching her pace as she passes them all. "So that was the secret they locked you up to keep, why they kept you in solitary, floated your old man?"
At the mention of her father, her jaw clenches, yet she doesn't shut down completely. "My father was the engineer who discovered the flaw. He thought the people had a right to know. The council disagreed, my mother disagreed. They were afraid it would cause a panic. We were gonna go public, anyway, when Wells—"
"What? Turned in your dad?" Finn cuts in with a question.
"Anyway, the guard showed up before we could. That's why today. That's why it was worth the risk," Clarke continues, answering his question by ignoring it. "Even if we all die, at least they bought themselves more time."
"Yeah, send the juveniles because no one gives a damn about whether they die or not," Zarah murmurs under her breath, although it was clearly heard. She receives a glare from the blonde, making it ultimately clear she isn't in the mood for sarcasm.
Monty speaks, ignoring her comment, "They're gonna kill more people, aren't they?"
There is no response up until Octavia says, "Good. After what they did to me, I say we float them all." She walks away from all of them, leaving the rest standing with their eyebrows furrowed.
"You don't mean that," Jasper replies, running after her. He stops in his spot, a goofy smile plastered on his face. "Oh, damn, I love Earth."
Octavia stands on a rock, removing the jumpsuit covering her body. She's left in a small tank top and her underwear, but she doesn't shy away from the attention. It makes her more confident. She walks close to the edge, smiling down at the water. Clarke gasps, "Octavia, what the hell are you doing?"
