Ivy

The bullets had started flying the moment I had driven out of the building.

"AAAAAH!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? WHY ARE THEY SHOOTING AT ME?" I screamed.

"I'm so sorry about this." The blond had said. "They are trying to kill me and I'm afraid we've dragged you into this situation."

I hear the sound of a gun cocking.

"Who the hell are you people?" I demand.

"I'm Celeste --- Norwood." She says. "This is..."

She doesn't get to finish because he immediately gives her an icy stare.

"Never mind." She says under her breath.

"Okay. I'm Evelyn Summers. But it's Ivy for short." I say with a nervous smile.

"Nice to meet you, Ivy." She says with a cheerful smile.

"Yeah. Yeah, no, I can't say the same to you." I mumble.

I'm now racing wildly through the highway. There seems to be two SUVs tailing us and they as still shooting at us.

"Keep it steady." He says.

I watch as he buckles on his seatbelt and, gun in hand, he throws the door open. He balances himself carefully with the seatbelt by using one hand. The other hand he uses to fire at our pursuers. I can't see much as my eyes are fixed on the road but I catch a glimpse of one of the two SUVs turning over mid air. SWEET ILAMA DRAMA.

This can't be happening. I pinch my arm and then wince in pain. I was awake. Holy Molly, I was awake! What the fuck was happening!!! Deep breaths, Ivy. Deep, deep breaths. Calm yourself. There's nothing to freak out about.

He pulls himself back into the car.

"Shit. There's more of them showing up. They have a chopper trailing us." He says.

Wait, what?

"We need to get off the radar. Now." He says.

"Uhm, I think there's a road that cuts off heading west right about 2 miles ahead." I say.

"Where does it head?" He asks.

"There's an abandoned construction sight around that direction." I reply.

"It'll have to do." He says.

I hit the gas, secretly enjoying the thrill that had come from the feel of the car accelerate down the road. As I had guessed, the road branched off towards the west. I drove about 10 miles before we made it to an abandoned construction sight. Throwing the passenger door open, he got out first.

"Ditch the car." He said in that monotone voice of his.

"Ditch the car? Are you crazy? This is my car!!!" I yelled at him.

He didn't even bother responding. He just walked away. Ugh, what an asshole!

"Sorry, he's a bit of a fixer upper." Celeste said with an apologetic smile.

"Yeah, right. Your boyfriend can't just order me around." I grumble.

"He's not my boyfriend." She says with a laugh.

"Really? Then how the hell did you end up travelling together?" I asked skeptically.

"He saved my life. Some very bad people are trying to kill my brother but he's in witness protection now." She said. "So now they want to hurt me in order to get to him."

"Oh, I'm sorry." I said.

"It's okay." She said. "I used to be afraid but after a while I realized I had no reason to be. I have one hell of a bodyguard and he's damn good at his job. Of course he's rough around the edges but he's a softie on the inside."

Present

Yeah, that's how it had started. How we fell in love, now that's a story for another time. Remind me to tell it to you. Wink. Wink. Back to the present. What do I do with this juicy piece of information I have just been given?

"How do I help him?" I find myself asking.

"You want to help him?" She asks. Clearly she wasn't expecting that.

"Well, it's like you said. Bad people are using him. I want to help him. I want to take down the bad guys." I say.

She laughs at me.

"Darling, even if he'd allow it, how would you help him?" She asks. "You can't even help yourself."

"You're right. I am helpless and I hate my helplessness." I say, my voice chocking on emotion. "I hate how I have to rely on others to help me. I want to be able to take care of myself. I want to feel like I'm not worthless."

"And how will you accomplish that, Miss Summers?" She asks with a serious expression.

"You said you run an agency. Train me. I can become one of your agents." I say confidently.

She's silent for about thirty seconds whilst regarding me thoughtfully.

"That is an excellent idea, darling. However, there are two flaws with your plan. Firstly, Fox will outright murder me if I let you come to any harm." She says.

"Not if he doesn't know." I say with a mischievous grin.

"Second, you're pregnant. How the hell do you expect me to train you in that situation?" She adds.

"Wait, how do you know? I didn't say anything." I exclaim.

"I've been a mother myself, Miss Summers. I know the signs." She says. "If you are serious with your terrible idea, however, I will consider it. You'll need to focus on surviving the next couple of months."

"Maybe you can help me with that. I want to take down the bad guys. Starting with the ones after me." I say with a serious expression. "I want to take down Al Jeera."

"You're treading on dangerous waters, Miss Summers. Are you sure about this?" She asks.

"Yes. I'm sure." I reply.

"I'll see what my people can come up with." She says thoughtfully. "I can't teach you the heavy weight stuff as of yet but I suppose I could teach you the art of espionage."
