His hand reached out, ready to entwine with hers as she stepped out of the car. Today marked two months since their second night spent together, two months since the official start of their unofficial relationship. To celebrate, Chanyeol was treating Chaeyoung to a date, a proper date where they actually left the confines of Chaeyoung's apartment.
Truth be told, Chanyeol was absolutely bricking it. So far he had managed to keep their relationship strictly private, but he knew it would only be a matter of time before Chaeyoung began to wonder why they never went out together.
As he got ready that night, all the worst possible scenarios flooded his mind. His brain came up with the most far-fetched and impossible situations, many involving Irene somehow being present. But that was impossible, she was halfway across the globe on another meaningless business trip.
Chanyeol shook his head, trying to shake the cloud of negativity that surrounded him. This night was for them, he should leave his problems with his other woman at the door.
Chaeyoung, as always, looked gorgeous, a tight maroon dress hugging her figure, the hem stopping around mid-thigh. It was a look he had never seen on her. He had seen her in her club attire and in all her bare-faced, comfy clothed glory, but he had never seen her look so glamorous.
She was radiant, the diamond amongst the other jewels. In a world full of dull business conversations and nights of silent awkwardness, she was the sole light, bringing something different to Chanyeol's life for the first time in nine years.
He was eternally grateful to her, for giving his life meaning once again, for giving him a reason to not want to be anyone's trophy husband anymore. He was done with that, the feeling of inferiority.
For the first time, he felt like he was in a relationship with an equal. Irene had always unintentionally risen above him, achieving greater heights, bringing in more income. But with Chaeyoung, things were different. It was both of them against the world, taking on every challenge together, rejoicing in every triumph, together.
"I don't know if I've told you this already." He leant down to whisper in her ear, using the small private moment before the waiter brought them to their seats to his advantage. "But you look absolutely stunning tonight."
Chanyeol loved to see the way her smile grew and her eyes sparkled at his compliments, never failing to make his heart skip a beat. She turned to him, the familiar expression on her face.
"You have, but it's nice to hear it again."
All too soon, their moment of privacy was cut short, the overly smiley waiter escorting them to their table.
Situated off in one corner, the table provided them with just the privacy they need, bringing relief to Chanyeol's anxious mind. He felt that he could finally relax and enjoy wining and dining the beautiful girl on his arm.
"I've never been here before, so you're going have to help me with this." Chaeyoung spoke, placing the menu down with a smirk.
Chanyeol's eyes parted from his own menu, already knowing what he'd get from his previous visits, settling them on Chaeyoung's instead. He glanced over the list of dishes, looking for what he thought she might like.
"The steak is classic," He gestured to his dish of choice. "But if you're looking for something lighter, I'd recommend this pasta, the one with the pesto and mozzarella. It's incredible." He brought his fingers to his mouth, making a chef's kiss, eliciting a giggle from Chaeyoung.
"I might have to go for that you know." She drew her own menu close to her again, eyes continuing to scour over it.
"What about drinks, what do you want?"
