High school-the next round of torture-began tomorrow. For girls like me anyway.

Hey, its Cara here, the average girl with braces on her teeth and glasses on her face. If you think "You're a nerd", well, you got that wrong too. My grades are a constant roller coaster, it goes up and down no matter how hard you try to change its course.

So..ya..where was I? oh yes! High school.

I wasn't that depressed though. My bestie since birth (Literally! our moms were classmates and always spend time at each other's house) Ann promised to come over for a sleepover. Having her with me tomorrow is the one thing I'm gonna be the most thankful for, during this year's Thanksgiving.

She's my complete opposite. Blonde, blue eyes, a born cheerleader and was the brightest in the class...who also helped prove not all blondes are dumb. I know I survived middle school just because of her..both studies and socialising. It was just us....no one else.

I went over to open the door the after bell rang thrice- our sign of identification.

"Hey!!"   "Woah girl! I said sleepover, not vacate forever" I couldn't believe my eyes. She was actually carrying a suitcase, besides a backpack.

"Oh I know! These are my books and this" pointing to the suitcase "contains our tools".

"I'm sorry, did you just say tools?" I'll admit, I was getting scared.. a little bit.

"You know you both can chat inside the house too, right?", my mom came to see why we were standing outside and talking.

"Sorry mom"  "Hey Aunt Jane", she gave my mom a hug while I pulled the suitcase in.It was heavy. I'm actually getting terrified now.

Dad had come in early, so we immediately gathered for dinner. My brother Collin was out, so it was just us four. Dinner was noisy. We chatted for a long time.. regarding her elder brother Adam (who was in his final year in school), her parents work...blah blah ... I didn't say much, mom & Ann kept the conversation going. After clearing up, we said good night and went to my room.

"Don't stay up too late ladies! First day of school tomorrow" dad reminded us as we shot upwards..well she did, while I struggled with the case.  "No sir" I replied, dragging the case in, and closing the door.

"Sit", she said. I responded by falling flat on the bed."Oh come on! we don't have much time " "For what??" I ask, eyes closed. "This."

I opened one eye, before falling off the bed!!

"What did I do to you that you wanna torture me so bad?" I saw curlers, straighteners, blow dryers and 50 shades of nail polish along with a lot of stuff I couldn't recognize, besides an entire box of earrings alone. I looked at her, open mouthed.

"What?! Its high school! I need some change... and so do you."

"No, no no! you know I hate this stuff" I have been an enemy of makeup since childhood, and always refused to get made up. My mom gave up on me and assigned me to Ann, who hasn't given up yet.

"Pretty please??"  "Ann! I don't like it"  "How can you not like it without trying it Cara?"  "Please?" No response.

I opened my closed eyes, to see her making a puppy pout at me. O God!! Not that!

I close my eyes shut and put my hands out. "You owe me big for this, girl".   She pulled me up and made me open my eyes by poking me!

"Trust me girl, at the end of the this, we'll be even"

After getting everything done, together we waited for the sun to come up.
