The rest of the week went by quickly, with me running away from sight as soon as I saw Albert any where nearby. Friday, I saw him only once, during lunch, so it was the best day of the week.
We three were over at Vinnie's house after school, trying to set her mind on a dress she would wear tomorrow for her date with Adam.
"You sure you don't mind us both having dates tomorrow?"Ann asked for the hundredth time. "We could reschedule or something"
"Relax ladies. I'm gonna be fine. Besides, I really need some 'me-time' right now."
"It's good I guess, though seriously Ann, what kinda sister doesn't know her brother's favorite color?" Vinnie was standing, hands on hips, looking grumpily at Ann, who just shrugged.
"Probably, its the sister who didn't know her brother had a crush on her best friend"Ann smirked.
Vinnie threw the top she was holding at us, who were on her bed. "Oh shut up! And help me pick something".
The next day, as usual, though after a small deliberation whether to sleep in, or ride over, I cycled over to the cafe. Grabbing a book from the shelf and coffee in hand, I head over to our usual spot. Celestine was just brought to court in Flawed, when I heard a voice behind me.
"All alone today?" I turned to see Albert standing behind with a coffee in hand.
"I would be too, if I would have cup of any liquid in my hand." He gave a small laugh. "Mind if I join you?"
"Why?"
"Its every prince's duty to save the distressed damsel", he said, sliding into the chair opposite mine. "And right now, this damsel is lonely, so the prince decides to keep her company."
"How do you know if the princess prefers to be alone or not?"
He gave a sly smile. "You were drinking your coffee."
"So? I can't drink coffee when I'm bored?"
"Talia", he said, looking towards the counter. I liked the manager, she always greeted with me a smile and let me even takes books home.
I took a sip of my coffee. "What about her?"
"She told me that once you get really engrossed in a book, you forget everything else." He raised his eyebrow at me, which I'll admit made him look cool.
I blushed, remembering the time I had started on the 'Shadowhunters' series, that I even forgot to have lunch. I had just sat there with the books, until closing time, until she came over and pat me on the shoulder.
"A-That was just once. And B- you asked her about me?"
"Vinitha must have told you about me. And I wanted to know more about you."
I flushed. "You know Vinnie?"
"You actually think they wouldn't take a person with such great skills into the band?". He waved his hands in the air, then pointed at himself.
I couldn't help myself. "That's a good point. So until they find that person they get stuck with you." I smirked.
Trying not to smile, he shook his head. "They needed help, so I was gifted to them."
"Exactly my point." I could tell he didn't understand. "You cant return gifts. You are stuck with them, whether they like it or not".
I definitely didn't except him to start laughing. "Fine. You win. But I'm still gonna be here." He pushed the empty cup aside. "And since I am, I don't want you to hate me."
