Belladonna's point of view
My eyes looked over the color changing sky as the sun rose in the far distance. I had been perched on the balcony all night, not sleeping a wink. I was putting a lot of pressure on today. Today would be it. Today I would get some answers. Even though, today could very well not be the day.
Ambrosia's now unhidden knowledge was enough to make me almost certain that she played a very important role in Dianely's disappearance. She's been far too comfortable sitting patiently on that thrown of hers. How nice would it be to finally have an excuse to watch her head roll down a hill.
I turned away from the outside world and shut the doors behind me. There was a lot of preparation to do and very little time. I took a brush to my hair for the first time in a while and untangled the matted, black locks.
The door squeaked as it was pushed more open. The girl made her way over to me.
"Here, let me braid it for you," Faith said.
I put the brush down on the bed.
Faith and I had developed some sort of friendship. Not seriously, but enough for her to no longer be fearful of me. We would chat every now and again if I were up for it. She knew how to tiptoe around the devastation that had consumed me.
"You know, I bet she's out there missing you," said the blonde. "Even when the two of you didn't get along, you were all she ever talked about."
A small smile stretched across my lips. My eyes winced with every tug of hair until Faith had finished two french braids.
"There, now you look like a badass," Faith teased.
I rolled my eyes at her comment.
"I always look like a badass, Faith," I corrected her.
"Woah, someone got her big headedness back real quick," she laughed. "Do me a favor and use that attitude when you're looking for my best friend."
After a change of clothes I made my way to Ezekiel's room. I knocked on the door loudly, only to receive no response. I don't have time for this. The door swung open at my command. It caused my brother to jump in his sheets.
"For Christ's sake, Bell!" He yelled. "Was that really necessary?"
"Very much so, brother," I replied. "Now, rise. I will not allow your slumber to be responsible for our lack of daylight."
He groaned and got out of bed.
While he did whatever it is he does in the early morning, I made my way downstairs to the kitchen. This was going to be a long day. Maybe two if things don't go as smoothly as I would hope. I had plans to ride the pegasus the majority of the way. Once near vampire territory, we would have to descend. If Ambrosia was hiding her somewhere, it would be smart to keep as hidden as possible.
I waltzed into the kitchen swiftly. The smell of breakfast being cooked made my stomach awaken. Ezra noticed my presence and handed me a plate of food.
"Ezra, I'm quite busy," I said.
"I'm sure you are, your majesty," he responded. "However, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You wouldn't want to set out on your adventure without it."
I could already hear Ezekiel's words in my head telling me she would want me to eat. So, I sat at the counter and began shoveling the food into my mouth.
"Anything specific you would like for me to pack?" Ezra asked.
"Make sure it's good enough for a few days, I'm not certain of how long we will be away," I replied.
