Chapter Five: What the Heck?!

Cassandra's POV

I avoided Jason after what I did.

I still can't believe I kissed him...what is wrong with me??

I sighed as I turned on the Batcomputer, trying to keep myself busy (and hide in the Batcave).

It would've been so easy to disappear...but then the one person I didn't want to see came in.

We both froze upon seeing each other and I blinked stupidly before saying,
"Ja—Jason! You scared me." I felt awkward and needed to say something.
"Sorry...I uh...came to use the computer. But you're using it so I'll just come back later." He says, looking as awkward as I feel before starting to walk away.

"WAIT!" I called out, spooking myself by how loud I was.

"Yeah?" He asks, looking shocked by my reaction.
"You can use it if you want. I don't need it that badly." I give him a small smile and there's a small smirk on his face.
"Well, you don't have to Cass, but...thanks." He says, going over to the computer.
"You're welcome." I reply, sitting on the table so he can sit in the chair.

Jason's POV

I tried to concentrate on what I was doing but I found I couldn't. I kept glancing over at Cass, who was busy playing with her fingernails. I sighed quietly and stood up from the chair.

"Cass?"
"Yes?" She replies, distracted.

I stand over her and she looks up at me, sliding off the table to stand in front of me.
"What it is?"
"I just..." I trail off and hesitated, shifting my gaze between her eyes and her lips.
"Jason, what is it?" She asks, looking confused.
"I...do you trust me?" I ask her, cupping her cheeks together in my hands.

Something seems to click in her brain as her eyes widen a little. She licks her lips and then nods.

"Yes." She whispers as our lips nearly touch.

Then, and only then, do I lean to kiss her, leaning down because of our difference in height. She wraps her arms around my neck to bring me forward as she stands on her tip-toes.

A MINUTE LATER...

Stephanie's POV

I had walked down to the cave to find Cass because she had mentioned she was going to be down there.

I froze once I reached the bottom of the stairs as I saw Jason and Cass.

Wide-eyed, I stood there for a moment before remembering what I was doing and quickly slipped away before the two of them could notice me staring (sorry!).

UPSTAIRS, WAYNE MANOR KITCHEN...

"Babs, you'll never guess what I saw in the cave!"
"Let me guess...the bats bombarded you again?" She asks dryly, getting popcorn out of the microwave we were planning on having together while watching a movie.
"What? No! And that last time was because I was feeding them food." I shook my head and started over.

"I saw Jason and Cass downstairs." I explain, being vague and hoping she would take the hint.
"Together? As in...?"
"Yeah! I saw them kissing!" Babs got wide-eyed.
"Oh...wow!" She smiles briefly. "Okay, now you have to tell me everything!" She says, dragging me over to the couch so I could explain everything as we chowed down on popcorn.

Author's Notes

And this was the start of me shipping JayCass began :)

I practically made a ship appear in a story just because!

Although nowadays I don't ship them anymore (Cass is Bruce's adopted daughter in some continuities and now I prefer that). But for the sake of this series (and because I love their daughter) they'll be a couple.

(I still have a JayCass folder from back then on my phone that I'm too lazy to clear out lol)

Also, I did make them a couple in my justice league AU Same Old Song but that was mostly because I was lazy XD

Nothing was really changed since this was a short chapter with not a lot going on (which I think made it very hard to write). But it is better, miles better than the original (in my opinion, which should really be the only one that matters since I wrote the darn thing—).

Also I can write kissing scenes correctly now, yay🥳

Eventually, I want to get to the stage when I can prewrite these chapters in bulk but with school still going on it'll have to wait. I'll probably do it during the summer or spring break.

Anyway, happy Valentine's Day my dear readers! This is my present for all of you for being amazing & supportive people for me throughout the years <3
