I'm a tad too late, aren't I? This isn't a double update but at least it's as long as two chapters merged into one! :)*
"Ivan Trevelyan, famous Business tycoon; Chief Executive Officer and sole owner of Trevelyan Enterprise Holdings and several other worldwide branches; who holds the record for Most Eligible Bachelor in the whole of America, is getting married today," the news anchor, a middle-aged woman with ginger hair, said. "A little birdie, whose identity is better off anonymous, tipped off his wedding location and here we are, currently outside the-"
My thumb that was previously hovering over the mute button of the remote, unconsciously slammed into it, shutting the news anchor up. I gawked stupidly at the flatscreen TV, even though my mind wasn't really into watching the news. A light sigh escaped my lips and I felt the reality of the whole situation weigh me down and make my heart sink into my stomach.
That day was the day. The day Isabelle Greene becomes Isabelle Trevelyan. The day Mr. Asshole drops the title of bachelor. The day I'm to get married to an asshole and have my life ruined in the process.
"He's going to be pissed, isn't he?" Crystal asked from beside me, pulling my attention to her as she placed her hand on my shoulder.
I sighed again, not bothering to reply. I was pretty sure she knew the answer to that question.
The press wasn't supposed to know about the wedding.
We -well, Mr. Asshole- had decided that the wedding had limited press-attention. The idea was to have the wedding on a low-key before informing the entire mass media. That was the main reason why the wedding wasn't happening in an actual church but an extremely deluxe hotel, providing they don't disclose our wedding to the media.
That wasn't actually my problem though.
Anxiety embedded its long ugly talons deeper into me as the reality of the whole situation consumed my inner mind. I was literally a few hours away from tying my soul to someone I'd met for almost three weeks. And a cockily rude jerkhole for that matter.
Kate barged into the hotel suite in her lilac mermaid dress and silver pearl-studded stilettos, her dark brown hair was pinned back but had a few loose strands at the side. Her look totally contradicted mine; she looked more of an angel while I looked like a hobo with the stringy bundle on my head that people call hair.
I was still in my pajamas seeing as it was early morning and the wedding itself was a few hours away. It was surprising that others were already dressed even when the bride herself wasn't even close to getting out of bed not to mention having a shower.
I didn't think I looked that enthusiastic about the wedding.
"Oh, dear!" Kate muttered out loud and shook her head, the sides of her hair bobbing with the movement. "Why the hell are you not ready yet?"
I opened my mouth to reply but Crystal cut in. "I told her the exact same thing, Kate. Waking her up was a really hard job on its own. I mean, she kicked me in the face like ten times! It's like she doesn't want to get married."
Kate narrowed her eyes at me and for an alarming moment, I caught a knowing glint in her dark brown eyes. She clicked her tongue and gave me a disapproving look. "You know what? Forget it, there's something more important than that. He's coming in here. I tried to stop him but he-"
My eyebrows crumpled together. "Wait, what? What- I mean who do you mean by he? Who's coming here?"
"Oh, nobody important. Just Mickey Mouse hopping around in his tuxedo to come wish you a happy married life," she said sarcastically. I gave her a look and she sighed. "I meant your knight in shining aluminum foil, silly. Now-"
